Re: Mode context extremely poor performance and varyio
Stephen, all, Thank u very much for your answer and i wish you an happy thanksgiving. Currently we tried to migrate our base on RAW devices already using e41smp, SecurePath (HP) 3C and Qlogic 7.00. The average response time of our sql request on ia32 is 0.32Sec very regularly. On our Itanium on OCFS that's very randomly between 1 and 15Sec, and on RAW between <1s and 3 sec. David is an

[Fwd: Re: Ocfs and EMC Powerpath]
That should say below, we are using Powerpath on the CX300's AND the CX600's... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We are using Powerpath with CX300's and Emulex HBA's, also with OCFS on Red Hat 2.1 AS. Kernel upgrades are the biggest issue that we have, as some of the drivers are dependent on modules built for specific kernels, and if your

CentOS and EMC PowerPath/Naviagent
Is anyone using CentOS 4.4 with an EMC Clariion SAN? In particular, I want to know if PowerPath and Naviagent will work on a CentOS 4 system connected to a san using Qlogic or Emulex cards. I tried a couple years ago with Fedora Core 1 or 2, and couldn't get the kernel modules from PowerPath to work since the kernel wasn't the official RHEL one. I'm most interested in

ZFS with EMC PowerPath
On some machines running PowerPath, there''s sometimes issues after an update/upgrade of the PowerPath software. Sometimes the pseudo devices get remapped and change names. ZFS appears to handle it OK, however sometimes it then references half native device names and half the emcpower pseudo device names. So the SA can easily be confused. Is there a way to tell ZFS which device names

OCFS performance numbers with and without PowerPath
I was curious if someone on this list has performance numbers with and without PowerPath 3.0.3 on RH AS 2.1 Oracle 9i RAC systems with OCFS. I know that there were some concerns with PowerPath intercepting IO's and slowing performance related to OCFS. Appreciate your feedback. Raj

Ocfs and EMC Powerpath
A couple years ago, we moved to Oracle RAC on Linux using ocfs that is SAN attached to an EMC CLARiiON. At the time, there was a reason that we did NOT use EMC's Powerpath (I just can't recall what that reason was). What I'd like to know is if there are any issues with introducing Powerpath now. * RHEL 2.1 AS * 2.4.9-e.38enterprise * ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.13-1 * EMC

ZFS and powerpath
How much fun can you have with a simple thing like powerpath? Here''s the story: I have a (remote) system with access to a couple of EMC LUNs. Originally, I set it up with mpxio and created a simple zpool containing the two LUNs. It''s now been reconfigured to use powerpath instead of mpxio. My problem is that I can''t import the pool. I get: pool: ###### id:

ocfs issues with 9.2.0.3
I am starting to see a few issues with OCFS and 9.2.0.3 RAC on redHat Linux AS 2.1. Wondering if there is anyone out there experiencing similar issues... a few pointers to the issues.. 1. OCFS read/write performance is way lower than a read/write to a raw device.. i can give you some comparison numbers.. 2. Writes to shared disk with ocfs would get locked up by one server.. it doesnt have to

Thats my second maschine with powerpath and zfs the first one works fine, even zfs/powerpath and failover ... Is there anybody who has the same failure and a solution ? :) Greets Dominik

rpool to use emcpower device
I decided to post this question to the mailing list because it needs ZFS knowledge to be solved. The situation is like this: I have a blade server that boots from a LUN, which has no additional storage or internal disk but that LUN used to boot. MPxIO works perfectly; but the management wants to use EMC PowerPath, because the company already has an investment on licensing. After disabling

MAX_LUNS SIZE LIMIT ON RHEL 3.0 and 4.0
Dear List Users- IHAC planning storage layout and is looking for the following MAX_LUNS size limit on RHEL 3.0 and 4.0. Details are below. Customer database size is estimated to grow to 5 TB and worries that they will not be able to present enough devices to the system if used with EMC powerpath and RHEL 3.0 max_lun limitations. I have advised on using OCFS or ASM as this is a 10g Database

OCFS Performance on a Hitachi SAN
I've been reading this group for a while and I've noticed a variety of comments regarding running OCFS on top of path-management packages such as EMC's Powerpath, and it brought to mind a problem I've been having. I'm currently testing a six-node cluster connected to a Hitachi 9570V SAN storage array, using OCFS 1.0.12. I have six LUNs presented to the hosts using HDLM,

version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libpthread.so.0
I just installed EMC PowerPath 5.0.0 and Navisphere Agent and CLI on a CentOS 4.4/x86_64 system. When I try to start naviagent, I get the error below. Before upgrading to CentOS4.4, this same system had RHEL3 ES for x86_64 on it, and the same problem was encountered. I spent weeks going back and forth with EMC tech support, but the problem was never resolved. I'm hoping someone here on this

Kernel panic with OCFS2 1.2.6 for EL5 (answer to multipath question)
Hello This is a bit off-topic, but here goes: Try installing the "device-mapper-multipath" package and follow the documentation below - residing at the powerlink.emc.com site: "Native Multipath Failover Based on DM-MPIO for v2.6.x Linux Kernel and EMC(r) Storage Arrays" When configured this works just as good as PowerPath. This works great on RHEL / CentOS 5 Daniel On

EMC CX4 Clariion
Hi, We had received a new EMC storage (Clariion CX4) and the EMC analist has told us that CentOS aren't on their support list, but RHEL are :) Well anybody on the list has a CentOS host talking (iSCSI) with an EMC storage, preferably using the EMC Powerpath software, and can talk about you experience? Or I will need to buy some REHL licenses ? I'll put my hands on it only next
