64bit and 32 bit
Dear all...
Currently I am having 5 RAC nodes with Configurations as below :
1. HW = DL580 32 Bit Processor
2. OS = RHAS 2.1
3. OCFS= Latest Version
4. RAC= Oracle9i 9.2.0.5 (32 Bit)
Now I am planning to add 2 more Rac Nodes in the existing RAC:
1. HW=Itanium 64 bit processor
2. OS=RHAS 3.0
3. OCFS=Latest Version
4. RAC=Oracle9i 9.2.0.5 (32 bit)

ocfs issues with 9.2.0.3
I am starting to see a few issues with OCFS and 9.2.0.3 RAC on
redHat Linux AS 2.1. Wondering if there is anyone out there
experiencing similar issues...
a few pointers to the issues..
1. OCFS read/write performance is way lower than a read/write to a raw

2. Writes to shared disk with ocfs would get locked up by one server..

AW: OCFS 1.0.9-6 performance with EVA 6000 Storage
Hi all,
Sorry to break in, but I find this thread a bit interesting.
Jeram: I'm not very familiar with HP storage and cannot find too much info
on the EVA 6000 array. Is it related to the EVA 5000 somehow, or is it a NAS
array?
In any case, how is the array configured. If the algorithm for hartbeat is
as described earlier (36 sector reads and one write per second (per
host???)) then you

ocfs performance
Hi,
I'm new to the list, so forgive me if I'm asking several naive questions
that have been answered a dozen times before.
I have RHAS with kernel version 2.4.9-e.10smp, running
ocfs-support-1.0-2, ocfs-tools-1.0-2, ocfs-2.4.9-e.10-smp-1.0-2. I have
Oracle 9iR2 RAC up and running on an IBM fiber channel architecture. I
find it to be extremely slow compared to other stand alone

OCFS filesystem used 7%
Hi all...
I have a strange problem. 2 of my mount points already use 7% of space, even
when I check the directory is empty.
When I re-format it, it release the space for a while, after 1 or 2 days,
the space is used again for 7% - 10 %.
What could be the reason?
I am using RHAS 2.1 Enterprise Kernel 2.1 and OCFS release 1.0.9-6
Thanks

A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHE L3
Sort of a followup...
We've been running OCFS in sync mode for a little over a month now,
and it has worked reasonably well. Performance is still a bit spotty, but
we're told that the next kernel update for RHEL3 should improve the
situation. We might eventually move to Polyserve's cluster filesystem for
its multipathing capability and potentially better performance, but at least

Wim,
The patch description on Metalink says:

Which wasn't quite what I was expecting.

OCFS install trouble w/ new kernel - unresolved symbols
I successfully have OCFS running in a two-node RAC environment using RHAS
3 (2.4.21-4.EL) using Qlogic 2310 cards. IO performance, however, was
terrible with the combination of OCFS and the Qlogic cards. After
extensive testing, OCFS did fine on its own, as did the fibre cards. Put
the two together, and everything literally ran twice as slow.
Support at Qlogic pointed me to

Source for OCFS Support Package
Hello,
I want to use ocfs for a 10g RAC installation on a 2 node cluster,
consisting of 1 Athlon and 1 Pentium machine with Firewire storage. OS is
RHAS 3.
Since I need to build my own binary Athlon rpm's, I downloaded
ocfs-1.0.12.tar.gz
ocfs-tools-1.0.10.tar.gz
I was able to install both (./configure ; make - make install).
When I try to load_ocfs I get lots of errors

OCFS Database too slow
Hi All,
we are using Red Hat 2.1 Kernel e38 along with MSA 1000.
ocfs version being used is
$ rpm -qa | grep ocfs

ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.12-1
ocfs-support-1.0.10-1
Database Version is 9.2.0.5
However we find that the performance of the database on OCFS is too slow. even a select count(1) from all_tables takes like a while to complete.

A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHEL3
Oracle appears to have Wim chained in the basement, forced to answer
mailing list questions at all hours. I do appreciate it.
Our cluster has been stable since we installed RAC, but a few minor issues
have me concerned. First, our storage array seems to maintain continuous
low-level activity even when the database is shut down. The CPUs spend a
modest amount of time in iowait state while this

RHE L3 -- OCFS 1.0.9-12 and 1.0.12
Running database in ASYNC mode in RHEL 3 has a potential risk of redo logs failure due to some short io's.
A note from

says that the above mentioned problem is fixed in OCFS 1.0.9-12
