GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
I'm on 3.10.5. Its rock solid (at least with the fuse mount <Grin>) We are also typically on a somewhat slower GlusterFS LAN network (bonded 2x1G, jumbo frames) so that may be a factor. I'll try to setup a trusted pool to test libgfapi soon. I'm curious as to how much faster it is, but the fuse mount is fast enough, dirt simple to use, and just works on all VM ops such as

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Hey guys, I got another "reboot crash" with gfapi and this time libvirt-3.2.1 (from cbs.centos.org). Is there anyone who can audit the libgfapi usage in libvirt? :-) WK: I use bonded 2x10Gbps and I do get crashes only in heavy I/O situations (fio). Upgrading system (apt-get dist-upgrade) was ok, so this might be even related to amount of IOPS. -ps On Sun, Sep 10, 2017 at 6:37 AM, WK

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Well, that makes me feel better. I've seen all these stories here and on Ovirt recently about VMs going read-only, even on fairly simply layouts. Each time, I've responded that we just don't see those issues. I guess the fact that we were lazy about switching to gfapi turns out to be a potential explanation <grin> -wk On 9/9/2017 6:49 AM, Pavel Szalbot wrote: >

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Mh, not so sure really, using libgfapi and it's been working perfectly fine. And trust me, there had been A LOT of various crashes, reboots and kill of nodes. Maybe it's a version thing ? A new bug in the new gluster releases that doesn't affect our 3.7.15. On Sat, Sep 09, 2017 at 10:19:24AM -0700, WK wrote: > Well, that makes me feel better. > > I've seen all these

GlusterFS 3.4 Fuse client Performace
Dear GlusterFS Engineer, I have questions that my glusterfs server and fuse client perform properly on below specification. It can write only *65MB*/s through FUSE client to 1 glusterfs server (1 brick and no replica for 1 volume ) - NW bandwidth are enough for now. I've check it with iftop - However it can write *120MB*/s when I mount nfs on the same volume. Could anyone check if the

cannot mount with glusterfs-fuse after NFS-Ganesha enabled
Hi, I've created a 2 node glusterFS test (Gluster 3.8). Without enabling NFS-Ganesha, when I try to mount from a client using glusterfs option - everything works. However, after enabling NFS-Ganesha, when I try to mount from a client using the glusterfs option (fuse), it fails with the following output (when using the log-file option): [2017-12-28 08:15:30.109110] I [MSGID: 100030]

Centos 5.3 Kernel panic with fuse and glusterfs.
Hi List, We currently have a very irritating problem with Centos 5.3 x86_64 running on a Dell Poweredge SC1435. The problem is this: We are experiencing frequent kernel panics while using glusterfs and Fuse. Across the cluster of servers, we are experiencing roughly 1 panic every 1-2 days. This wasn't a problem with earlier servers where we used Fedora 6. Here's a kernel panic

GlusterFS Fuse client hangs when coping large files
Hello, I?m having some weird problems while coping large files (> 1GB) to a GlusterFS through a Fuse client. When the copy is done using the cp command everything is fine, but if I use a Java program, the GlusterFS Fuse hangs. The kern.log shows timeout for the Java program and the Fuse client. Anyone have experienced this behavior? Test environment: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS (GNU/Linux

glusterfs-fuse package update
Folks, I need to update all my gluserfs-fuse clients to the latest version. Can I do this without a reboot? If I stop the module then update the fuse client, would this suffice? Or do I really need a reboot? Thank You -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... 1.3.10 compile failure on FC9 w/ Gluster-patched Fuse
Hello all, I am attempting to compile Gluster 1.3.10 on a newly-installed Fedora Core 9 machine, without success. The only non-stock package on the otherwise vanilla system is the Gluster version of Fuse. ----------------------- # rpm -qa | grep fuse fuse-devel-2.7.3glfs10-1.i386 fuse-2.7.3glfs10-1.i386 fuse-libs-2.7.3glfs10-1.i386 # rpmbuild -ta glusterfs-1.3.10.tar.gz (..snip..) make[5]:

My ignorance and Fuse (or glusterfs)
I have a very simple test setup of 2 servers each working as a glusterfs-server and glusterfs-client to the other in an afr capacity. The gluster-c and gluster-s both start up with no errors and are handshaking properly.. One one server, I get the expected behaviour: I touch a file in the export dir and it magically appears in the others mount point. On the other server however, the file

dovecot servers hanging with fuse/glusterfs errors
hi. i've got a clustered mail system with glusterfs and some postfix, squirrelmail and dovecot machines sharing the same storage system through glusterfs. each server has only postfix or squirrel or dovecot installed on it. The thing is... dovecot servers hang very often and the last thing they always log is this: ************* login: Unable to handle kernel paging request at

Files are duplicated after renaming (with glusterfs+zfs-fuse)
Hi all, I installed glusterfs (version 3.1.3) with zfs-fuse (0.6.9) as the underlying filesystem. After renaming a file, I found the file duplicated. Following is my test scenario. root at ubuntu:/# zpool create tank /dev/sdb root at ubuntu:/# gluster volume create test-volume ubuntu:/tank/exp1 ubuntu:/exp2 root at ubuntu:/# gluster volume start test-volume root at ubuntu:/# mount -t glusterfs

Glusterfs 10.5 healing OK after samba 4.20 on CTDB and glusterfs_fuse access module
Dear all, Out of fairness to who has always tried to help here and to eventually help others that had our issues, we are happy to announce that our case can be considered closed at the moment. We had complained about healings not being performed and high load on our gluster vms (kvm/qemu). And tried various workarounds that kept us "afloat". Our setup includes ctdb machines on top

Fuse problem
Hello all, I'm running a 64bit Centos5 setup and am trying to mount a gluster filesystem (which is exported out of the same box). glusterfs --debug --volfile=/root/gluster/webspace2.vol /home/webspace_glust/ Gives me: <snip> [2009-08-11 16:26:37] D [client-protocol.c:5963:init] glust1b_36: defaulting ping-timeout to 10 [2009-08-11 16:26:37] D [transport.c:141:transport_load]

FUSE init failed
Hi, I'm having an issue using the GlusterFS native client. After doing a mount the filesystem appears mounted but any operation results in a Transport endpoint is not connected message gluster peer status and volume info don't complain. I've copied the mount log below which mentions an error at fuse_init. The kernel is based on 2.6.15 and FUSE api version is 7.3. I'm using

GlusterFS mount with user quotas
I cannot seem to get the options for usrquota to work with the mount, assuming this isn?t supported? I can set volume level quota however, our GlusterFS is backing servers with user accounts that require quota restrictions. It seems like if those users are placed on the mount that uses GlusterFS, they have no restrictions on storage. Any solution for this? Currently using the native gluster
