Reminder: Virt SIG meeting tomorrow
Just a reminder, the Virt SIG meeting is tomorrow on IRC (channel
#centos-devel) at 1pm UTC (2pm BST, 9am EST).
I've (finally) done a draft update of the Virt SIG roadmap:
http://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/Virtualization/Roadmap
The concept I had was to have a number of different "projects" within
the SIG (Xen, Docker, Xapi, oVirt), each with its own maintainer that

New Relic & RightScale - Ruby on Rails Life Cycle Tools
Cloud Computing and Rails are a natural good fit. With tools provided
by New Relic integrated into the RightScale Deployment and Monitoring
platform you have a Best Practice Monitoring system.
I Deploy and Watch servers all day as part of the http://myCloudWatcher.com
service. When I started to build the demo for this next RightScale

ganglia failing dependency
hello list,
I'm trying to install ganglia-gmetad on centos 5.6. rrdtool is already installed and librrd is there. But for some reason when I go to install this package it doesn't see that it is.

UC OT: A lightweight monitor software
We run ganglia on a 35 node cluster (plus a few odds and ends). It
seems pretty lightweight. I've just finished installing the latest
versions at home on old slow 32-bit kit and it seems again to be very
lightweight. You will need to install libconfuse and RRD though, the
former comes as a tarball. You'll need to configure/make/make install
and then tell yum to ignore the missing

Adding an 'official' CentOS image to the Amazon EC2(Electronic Compute Cloud)
Sorry for not replying to this earlier, I just saw this thread because of
the newsletter. We have had CentOS Images running in the cloud since
09/06/2007, and there have had a public script out for it, you can check us
out in the Amazon catalog here:

GFS performance issue
Two web servers, both virtualized with CentOS Xen servers as host
(residing on two different physical servers).
GFS used to store home directories containing web document roots.
Shared block device used by GFS is an ISCSI target with the ISCSI
initiator residing on the Dom-0, and presented to Dom-U webservers as
drives.
Also, providing a second shared block device for quorum disk.

missing dependency for package
Hello everyone,
I know this isn't strictly CentOS query, but I am hoping that someone
here with more experience than myself might have some thoughts.
I am trying to get a plugin working for Ganglia on a CentOS 5.5 box,
in a testing environment. The plugin is for apache monitoring, called
Ganglia-Logtailer. This plugin requires the executable
/usr/bin/logtail in order to work. The only

amazon ec2 and centos?
Searching through the archives, it seems this topic has come up
several times in the past 2.5 years. Did anyone ever take on the
tasks of creating an official CentOS AMI?
We're currently using the RightScale ones, but I think it'd be ideal
to have a clean CentOS AMI with the current kernels.

Re: Collecting system stats
If you need to continuously track libvirt metrics, you might want to
install Host sFlow agents on each of your KVM hypervisors:
http://host-sflow.sourceforge.net/
The Host sFlow agent is a lightweight daemon that links to the libvirt
library on the hypervisor and sends hypervisor and VM metrics using the
sFlow protocol to a central collector. You could use an sFlow analyzer like
Ganglia to
