A problem with gluster 3.3.0 and Sun Grid Engine
Hi, We got a huge problem on our sun grid engine cluster with glusterfs 3.3.0. Could somebody help me? Based on my understanding, if a folder is removed and recreated on other client node, a program that tries to create a new file under the folder fails very often. We partially fixed this problem by "ls" the folder before doing anything in our command, however, Sun Grid Engine

gluster over infiniband....
Hey guys, I am running gluster over infiniband, and I have a couple of questions. We have four servers, each with 1 disk that I am trying to access over infiniband using gluster. The servers look like they start okay, here are the last 10 or so lines of a client log (they are all identical): 2008-10-07 07:18:40 D [spec.y:196:section_sub] parser: child:stripe0->remote1 2008-10-07 07:18:40 D

glusterfs and samba (file-max limit reached)
Recently a gluster I setup got mounted on a server that exports it through samba. It appears to work till a point. Unexpectedly on heavy usage the nodes happen to reach the max file descriptors opened limit really easily. Anybody else has experience on it? Is that kind of usage supported. currently one node seems to have surpassed about 3M open files even if the samba server claims to have

[FEEDBACK] Governance of GlusterFS project
Hello everyone, We are in the process of formalizing the governance model of the GlusterFS project. Historically, the governance of the project has been loosely structured. This is an invitation to all of you to participate in this discussion and provide your feedback and suggestions on how we should evolve a formal model. Feedback from this thread will be considered to the extent possible in

peer probe fails (107)
Hi gluster: Im getting the cryptic 107 error, (I guess this means gluster can't see a peer)... gluster peer probe vm-2 peer probe: failed: Probe returned with unknown errno 107 When I can effectively ssh and ping a given server. I've seen other threads regarding this, some of them to deal with the "net.ipv4.ip_nonlocal_bind" parameter, and also a bug

My ignorance and Fuse (or glusterfs)
I have a very simple test setup of 2 servers each working as a glusterfs-server and glusterfs-client to the other in an afr capacity. The gluster-c and gluster-s both start up with no errors and are handshaking properly.. One one server, I get the expected behaviour: I touch a file in the export dir and it magically appears in the others mount point. On the other server however, the file

[Gluster-devel] Gluster health/status
Gluster devs, I found the message below in the archives. glfs-health.sh is not included in the v3.0.3 sources - is there any plan to add this to the "extras" directory? What's its status? Ian == snip == Raghavendra G Mon, 22 Feb 2010 20:20:33 -0800 Hi all, Here is some work related to Health monitoring. glfs-health.sh is a shell script to check the health of glusterfs.

Building a new storage setup
I'm planning on moving an existing storage setup that is a horrible kludge of cross mounted NFS. I have 8x Coraid shelves and 2x JetStor units that I want to aggregate into one large storage pool and then keep it replicated (via AFR?) to a remote location. My current thought is to create a separate brick for each unit and then use unify to turn them into one large filesystem. Since I

Direct printer port access in Wine?
Hi: I have a Windoze program which uses the printer port for interfacing (not printing). So far, it has indicated when I run it with Wine that the printer port is found but the attached hardware is not responding. I also can't print anything in Wine, but perhaps I can make some progress with that as I have recently found some documentation on the subject. Can programs that access the
