gluster client performance
Hi- I'm new to Gluster, but am trying to get it set up on a new compute cluster we're building. We picked Gluster for one of our cluster file systems (we're also using Lustre for fast scratch space), but the Gluster performance has been so bad that I think maybe we have a configuration problem -- perhaps we're missing a tuning parameter that would help, but I can't find

Edting or Adding New Comments
Hi All, Can I update the header of the already existing Ogg-Vorbis file with the new comments? When we add new entries in the header, will it not overwrite the data? does the vorbis library takes care of this? can someone also please give me the call sequence on how i can do that? Thanks in advance. regards, Pavan. --------------------------------- Enjoy this Diwali

[Gluster3.2@Grid5000] 128 nodes failure and rr scheduler question
Hello, I'm driving some experiments on grid'5000 with GlusterFS 3.2 and, as a first point, i've been unable to start a volume featuring 128bricks (64 ok) Then, due to the round-robin scheduler, as the number of nodes increase (every node is also a brick), the performance of an application on an individual node decrease! So my question is : how to STOP the round-robin distribution

How to expand Replicated Volume
Hi Nag Pavan Chilakam Can I use this command "gluster vol add-brick vol1 replica 2 file01g:/brick3/data/vol1 file02g:/brick4/data/vol1" in both file server 01 and 02 exited without add new servers. Is it ok for expanding volume? Thanks for your support Regards, Giang 2017-06-14 22:26 GMT+07:00 Nag Pavan Chilakam <nag.chilakam at gmail.com>: > Hi, > You can use add-brick

Problem with VorbisEncoder
Hi All, It would be really helpful for me if you comment on the following. My VorbisEncoder uses libvorbis to encode into the vorbis data. I have followed the call sequence given in libvorbis\examples\encoder_example.c. I am taking a 16bit pcm Stereo wav file and generating an oggvorbis file using libvorbis and libogg. There is lots of noise in the file except music is heard very feable

High Latency of vorbisencoder on a hardware with no floatpoint unit
Hi All, I am porting the vorbis encoder to Symbian platform,(to support ogg recording) everything works fine for the emulator(PC), but then on the Hardware whenever I am trying to record it gives KErrOverFlow(buffer OverFlow). We get this error from the driver when the latency of the codec is too high. The main reason is that the hardware does not have the floatpoint unit and the

Slow performance - 4 hosts, 10 gigabit ethernet, Gluster 3.2.3
Hi everyone, I am seeing slower-than-expected performance in Gluster 3.2.3 between 4 hosts with 10 gigabit eth between them all. Each host has 4x 300GB SAS 15K drives in RAID10, 6-core Xeon E5645 @ 2.40GHz and 24GB RAM running Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit (I have also tested with Scientific Linux 6.1 and Debian Squeeze - same results on those as well). All of the hosts mount the volume using the FUSE

nlme error message
Dear Friends, I am seeking for any help on an error message in lme functions. I use mixed model to analyze a data with compound symmetric correlation structure. But I get an error message: "Error in corMatrix.corCompSymm(object) : NA/NaN/Inf in foreign function call (arg 1)". If I change the correlation structure to corAR1, then no error. I have no clue how to solve this problem.

Slow write times to gluster disk
Are you sure using conv=sync is what you want? I normally use conv=fdatasync, I'll look up the difference between the two and see if it affects your test. -b ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Pat Haley" <phaley at mit.edu> > To: "Pranith Kumar Karampuri" <pkarampu at redhat.com> > Cc: "Ravishankar N" <ravishankar at redhat.com>,

[Gluster-devel] GlusterFS 3.3.1 client crash (signal received: 6)
It's a pity I don't know how to re-create the issue. While there are 1-2 crashed clients in total 120 clients every day. Help with PRIO qdisc and filters
Hi, Sorry to bother you all. I have a typical problem sharing DSL upstream bandwidth with users. I have 3 types of traffic high-priority, medium-priority and low priority. My upstream rate is 960kbits. Traffic (any priority) can vary in bandwidth from 0 to 960kbits. I have a test setup where I can pump 600kbit of high priority sustained and I have 400kbit of low priority traffic sustained. I

glusterfs build question
Hi Sir/Madam, I have a question about glusterfs build. In our environment, we need to build the glusterfs on one server and run it on another one. These two directories are different and the built image includes lots of symbol about the build server, as a result, I cannot run it in the production environment, any your comments will be highly appreciated! MSI causing softpanics in guest
lspci shows MSI enabled for PCI device. PCI passthrough works fine. However, as soon as the MSI driver for card is insmodded, kernel panics. This is on xen-unstable. Tried the same with xen-3.3.0 which is supposed to have MSI passthrough, but the same guest shows MSI as disabled. Any else seen this bug, or know of a workaround ? Trace is as follows : ------------[ cut here ]------------

parallel-readdir is not recognized in GlusterFS 3.12.4
Thank you, Raghavendra. I guess this cosmetic fix will be in 3.12.6? I'm also looking forward to seeing stability fixes to parallel-readdir and or readdir-ahead in 3.12.x. :) Cheers, On Mon, Jan 29, 2018 at 9:26 AM Raghavendra Gowdappa <rgowdapp at redhat.com> wrote: > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Pranith Kumar Karampuri" <pkarampu at

GlusterFS 3.7 - slow/poor performances
hi Geoffrey, Since you are saying it happens on all types of volumes, lets do the following: 1) Create a dist-repl volume 2) Set the options etc you need. 3) enable gluster volume profile using "gluster volume profile <volname> start" 4) run the work load 5) give output of "gluster volume profile <volname> info" Repeat the steps above on new and old

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi Guys, I was wondering what our next steps should be to solve the slow write times. Recently I was debugging a large code and writing a lot of output at every time step. When I tried writing to our gluster disks, it was taking over a day to do a single time step whereas if I had the same program (same hardware, network) write to our nfs disk the time per time-step was about 45 minutes.

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi Ben, Sorry this took so long, but we had a real-time forecasting exercise last week and I could only get to this now. Backend Hardware/OS: * Much of the information on our back end system is included at the top of http://lists.gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2017-April/030529.html * The specific model of the hard disks is SeaGate ENTERPRISE CAPACITY V.4 6TB
