Replace brick of a dead node
Hi!
Seeking pardon from the experts, but I have a basic usage question that I could not find a straightforward answer to.
I have a two node cluster, with two bricks replicated, one on each node.
Lets say one of the node dies and is unreachable.
I want to be able to spin a new node and replace the dead node's brick to a location on the new node.
The command 'gluster volume

Hello everybody.
I have a problem setting up gluster failover funcionality. Based on
manual i setup ucarp which is working well ( tested with ping/ssh etc
)
But when i use virtual address for gluster volume mount and i turn off
one of nodes machine/gluster will freeze until node is back online.
My virtual ip is 3.200 and machine real ip is 3.233 and 3.5. In
gluster log i can see:

OSX file creation problems
I am running a REHL 4.3 server with samba RPMs:
3.0.10-1.4e.9
When an os X client connects to our samba server it can copy files from
the server an overwrite other files that already exist. However when it
comes time to create a file, it fails, where this process works
correctly from a windows system. In addition, I can go to where the
volume is mounted on the os X (10.3.7) machine and copy

CIFS Documentation
Hello,
It would be a good idea to update the Documentation about CIFS:
http://gluster.com/community/documentation/index.php/Gluster_3.2:_Exporting_Gluster_Volumes_Through_Samba
When the simple truth is, that there is no CIFS Support in gluster itself - it should not be in the
docs.
As I found out, this was also suggested earlier:

DatOptic RAID Array >2TB?
i'm trying to set up a hardware RAID array (eRAID from DatOptic)
under CentOS. we have two more of these arrays which have worked
very well for their purposes (backup and/or portable storage), but
neither of our older arrays exceeded the dreaded 2TB barrier
(one of them is, in fact, 2TB).
the server i'm currently testing with is running CentOS4.5, but i
do have CentOS5

glusterfs for Xen Server VM Images
Hi
We have successfully deployed glusterfs. We have deployed two servers with one volume as a replica. We use Citrix XenServer for our virtual environment. In XenServer we have created a storage repository via NFS using the glusterfs volume. This has been successful and XenServer can now use that storage repository for storing virtual machine images.
We are finding that the storage

[LLVMdev] Redundancy in Named Metadata
Hi All,
I have a question about named metadata, i.e. NamedMDNode.
I have one dedicated named metadata node, say
"clang.global.func.type", for conveying information about functions
defined in each translation unit. In the module resulting from each
translation unit, the dedicated (named metadata) node does not have
redundancy. However, this dedicated (named metadata) node contains

Redundancy in controller? What are your thoughts?
I am having a tough time coming up with a decision on this:
Is it ok to have redundancy in your controllers and views for the sake
of flexibility? Or should your controllers and views be 100% DRY by
creating private methods in your controllers that accept parameters and
using partials that accepts locals?
I tried being 100% DRY but my private methods are getting very complex
and my partials are

Master redundancy.
Hi everybody.
I found some writings about UPS redundancy in the docs, but can't find anything
about Master redundancy. Wouldn't be the master a single point of failure, if it
hangs, or shuts down what would happen?

Asterisk Redundancy
Hello,
My host just had a faulty power supply and therefore, my Asterisk server was down for 7 hours.
It was a Sunday so no one was making calls, however if it happened during the week, I'd have problems.
I was trying to find a whitepaper or advice on how to set up two Asterisk servers to provide some redundancy.
I've been googling "asterisk redundancy" but all I've found

RE: document.getElementsByClassName (prototype) andElement.childrenWithClassName (scriptaculous) redundancy?
Isn''t the difference that the scriptaculous one only gets child nodes
from the node you specify, whereas the prototype one gets all in the
entire document?
Still, it would be nice to just have the one, and let you pass in the
document element if you wanted all of them.
Just guessing, really. I haven''t looked at the code in question.

[Gluster 3.2.1] Réplication issues on a two bricks volume
Hello,
I have installed GlusterFS one month ago, and replication have many issues :
First of all, our infrastructure, 2 storage array of 8Tb in replication
mode... We have our backups file on this arrays, so 6Tb of datas.
I want replicate datas on the second storrage array, so, i use this command
:
# gluster volume rebalance REP_SVG migrate-data start
And gluster start to replicate, in 2 weeks

Re: 911 and lawsuits and redundancy
Well, to do an upgrade on a traditional system you have the same issues, perhaps even worse as everything is physically wired to one system. To develop for production you must have a dev environment, a beta test and a scheduled release right?

outlier identification: is there a redundancy-invariant substitution for mahalanobis distances?
Dear R-experts,
Searching the help archives I found a recommendation to do multivariate
outlier identification by mahalanobis distances based on a robustly estimated
covariance matrix and compare the resulting distances to a chi^2-distribution
with p (number of your variables) degrees of freedom. I understand that
compared to euclidean distances this has the advantage of being scale-invariant.
