Surprise in (delete_all | clear | destroy_all) on association
Hi,
I was very surprised by difference of delete_all on association vs
model(delegated to relation).
Given TaskFilter.has_many(:qualifiers, :class_name=>''TaskFilterQualifier'')
TaskFilter.delete_all => one DELETE statement
Without :dependent option on "qualifiers" association
TaskFilter.first.qualifiers.delete_all =>
SELECT `task_filter_qualifiers`.* FROM

Model.delete_all vs Model.destroy_all in a habtm
Hi there
I have an habtm association between 2 Models.
I regularly have to truncate the table on one side of the relationship
and repopulate the table with a fresh csv file.
I notice that f I do Model.delete_all, none of the records in my habtm
join table get deleted, whereas if I use destroy_all they do.
However, the overhead of using destroy_all is too great. For the
amount of records I have

Mssql Multiple Database Access Error
Hi All,
I am having a problem to access multiple databases with mssql
I am running Ruby 1.8.4 and Rails 1.1 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
I am simply trying to integrate the application I wrote before for
Oracle to Mssql. The application works perfectly with Oracle with the
installed driver OCI8. The app retrives data based on a search criteria
from those databases.
I followed the directions

Rails: Ho to connect to SQL Server
Hi,
I tried the steps explained in this link:
http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/HowtoConnectToMicrosoftSQLServer
The article t refers me to:
src/lib/dbd_ado/ADO.rb
But the file: dbi-0.1.0.tar.gz does not contain the src folder.
Instead, it contains this file:
\lib\dbd/ADO.rb
Am I missing some steps, or this is a document inconsistency?
Thank you,
Alan

Connectivity to Microsoft SQL Server using ADO

rails and MSSQL transactions
Hello,
I have rails using a MSSQL db. The set up works fine with low volume,
but with 2+ requests/second I keep on getting the following error:

Instiki and SQL Server??
Hello. I reeeeally want to get Instiki running at my day job, but they
are Microsoft-heads. While I can probably sell them on trying Rails,
they are definitely going to want the database to sit in our SQL Server
instance with our other databases. I can''t get instiki to create the
tables in sql server though (I''ve added ADO.rb, and gotten a
connection). When I run the

ActiveRecord delete_all With Sanitized Parameters?
Hi there
I''m trying to delete a set of active record objects based on certain
conditions. I''d like to do something like the following:
Context.delete_all("uri IN (?)", uris)
But delete_all doesn''t allow multiple arguments. Since I don''t have
the IDs for the objects I want to delete, I can''t use delete(id), and
have resorted to this,

Problem connecting with an SQL Server 2000 database
Hi,
I?m working on a rails application that uses data from an existing ms sqlserver 2000 database.
Unfortunately I can?t get the connection to work properly.
I used http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/HowtoConnectToMicrosoftSQLServer to make the connection.
- Inserted the ado.rb
- Changed my database.yml to
development:
adapter: sqlserver
database: database_name

delete_all not resetting auto incement in database
Hey
I''m writing a simple admin interface thats reading user data (skills)
from a comma separated file.
To clear the database before inserting new skills, I use
Skill.delete_all
Then I insert the new values I read from a file. Everything goes well
up to the point where I see that auto-generated ID''s are not starting
from 1. They start off at 840 (responding to the number of

Understanding :dependent => :delete_all?
I can''t see what''s wrong here but that''s probably just because I''m so
new to Rails! To get right into it... I have 4 tables that look like
this:
Sites
- id
Projects
- id
- site_id
- user_id
Tasks
- id
- project_id
- user_id
Users
- id
The corresponding models:
class Site < ARB
has_many :projects, :dependent => :delete_all
end

Just upgraded to 1.0.0, should render_text isn''t working for me
I finally got around to upgrading from 0.8.2 (!!). I had a spec which
looked like
specify "should render abc123" do
controller.should_render :text => "abc123"
get :key
end
With 1.0.0, the new spec is
it "should render abc123" do
get :key
response.should render_text("abc123")
end
However it doesn''t work, giving me the error:

Can't register to Asterisk 1.6 with old Aastra phones
We have a new customer with a lot of old phones like the 9133i. They
won't register, and we see some very strange behavior with them. If
the SIP peer exists, they simply fail silently, with no error in the
CLI or the messages log. Nothing works, but no errors.
If the peer does not exist, it's clear that it's registering improperly:

php53 and MSSQL
[Reposted now I've joined the list, so I hopefully don't get moderated out]
Hi,
I've upgraded lots of machines to 5.6 (thanks!) and there was one
particular machine that I'd also like to upgrade to PHP 5.3.
Unfortunately it seems I can't.
On the machine I have php-mssql installed, and it appears that there is
no php53-mssql.
php-mssql is built from the php-extras SRPM, so

MSSQL activerecord uses bad syntax
Hi all,
I''m trying to get rails up on mssql for a friend, does anyone have
experience? We''re working on a Windows XP box with MSSQL 2000 (no
service pak), and both rails (1.1) and MSSQL are on the same box. I''m
running into a bug (I think) where activerecord is using this syntax:
SELECT TOP 1 * FROM users WHERE (users.user = ''jbgnuumnbu'')
