rejecting I/O to offline device (PERC woes)
Haven't gotten any tips on a solution to the problem below. It happened again this weekend. My next test steps (order not determined): 1. Downgrade to CentOS 4 2. Swap out PERC controller with a spare I have never had a problem with the PERC4/DC controllers on our other machines (RHEL3/4, CentOS 4). Although, I've no other machine that has 5 300G Fujitsu SCSI drives either. Any

GlusterFS Replica over ZFS
Hi there. I am about to set up 3 server with GlusterFS over ZFS, running in Proxmox VE 8. Any advice or warning about this set up or I am at the right side of the road! Thanks for any advice. --- Gilberto Nunes Ferreira (47) 99676-7530 - Whatsapp / Telegram -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

GlusterFS Replica over ZFS
I assume you will be using the volumes for VM workload. There is a 'virt' group of settings optimized for virtualization (location at /var/lib/glusterd/groups/virt) which is also used by oVirt. It guarantees that VMs can live migrate without breaking. Best Regards, Strahil Nikolov On Fri, Sep 20, 2024 at 19:00, Gilberto Ferreira<gilberto.nunes32 at gmail.com> wrote: Hi there.

Samba BDC doesn't talk to LDAP slave on same machine
Hello, I can't get my BDC to talk to the LDAP slave running on the same machine. Replication between slave and master works but samba on the BDC doesn't appear to be communicating with the slave LDAP server. Everything off the PDC works fine. -- smb.conf on BDC -- [global] workgroup = WarehamPS encrypt passwords = Yes time offset = 60 time server = Yes

Samba 3.0 - LDAP create machine account fails
Hello, It's me again. I'm running Samba 3.0 and LDAP 2.1.23 on a RedHat 8.0 system. I am able to browse shares and home directories. I get a: Logon failure: unknown username or bad password when I try to connect a W2k machine. For Win/95/98 the system already works. I believe it is setup OK I need to work on scripts that work with MMC. I just want a basic connect a w2k machine right

Very slow performance on Sharded GlusterFS
Hi, I want to give an update for this. I also tested READ speed. It seems, sharded volume has a lower read speed than striped volume. This machine has 24 cores with 64GB of RAM . I really don?t think its caused due to low system. Stripe is kind of a shard but a fixed size based on stripe value / filesize. Hence, I would expect at least the same speed or maybe little slower. What I get is

glusterfs 3.6.5 and selfheal
Hi, Am running glusterfs server with replicated volume for qemu-kvm (proxmox) VM storerage which is mounted using libgfapi module. The servers are running network with mtu 9000 and client is not (yet). The question I've got is this: Is it normal to see this kind of an output: gluster volume heal HA-100G-POC-PVE info Brick stor1:/exports/HA-100G-POC-PVE/100G/ /images/100/vm-100-disk-1.raw -

Very slow performance on Sharded GlusterFS
Hi, I have an 2 nodes with 20 bricks in total (10+10). First test: 2 Nodes with Distributed - Striped - Replicated (2 x 2) 10GbE Speed between nodes "dd" performance: 400mb/s and higher Downloading a large file from internet and directly to the gluster: 250-300mb/s Now same test without Stripe but with sharding. This results are same when I set shard size 4MB or

Check out Proxmox VE... can CentOS improve on this?
Greetings, I'm a big OpenVZ fanboy. I've sent a few emails on this list that proves that... and I'm sure I've annoyed some people... but be that as it may... I would like to draw everyone on this list's attention to Proxmox VE. What is Proxmox VE? Here's a review from the end of June: ProxMox: The high-performance virtualization server for the rest of us

Very slow performance on Sharded GlusterFS
I already tried 512MB but re-try again now and results are the same. Both without tuning; Stripe 2 replica 2: dd performs 250~ mb/s but shard gives 77mb. I attached two logs (shard and stripe logs) Note: I also noticed that you said ?order?. Do you mean when we create via volume set we have to make an order for bricks? I thought gluster handles (and do the math) itself. Gencer

Very slow performance on Sharded GlusterFS
The current sharding has very limited use cases like vmstore where the clients accessing the sharded file will always be one. Krutuka will be the right person to answer your questions . Using glusterfs for virtual machines with qcow2 images
Chris: Whilst I don't know what is the issue nor the root cause of your issue with using GlusterFS with Proxmox, but I am going to guess that you might already know that Proxmox "natively" supports Ceph, which the Wikipedia article for it says that it is a distributed object storage system. Maybe that might work better with Proxmox? Hope this helps. Sorry that I wasn't able

Tinc with Proxmox node
Hello, I am testing Tinc and I successfully created a link between 2 nodes. I have some doubts about subnet behaviour. This is my scenario: Switch: LAN IP 10.100.10.100 Connected to WAN and Proxmox node Proxmox node: bridge interface with public IP , connected to switch LXC with public IP, assigned to bridge I create a Tinc VPN between Home host and Proxmox on net 10.100.10.0 Home host
