I assume you will be using the volumes for VM workload.There is a 'virt' group of settings optimized for virtualization (location at /var/lib/glusterd/groups/virt) which is also used by oVirt. Hi, I want to give an update for this. I also tested READ speed. It seems, sharded volume has a lower read speed than striped volume. This machine has 24 cores with 64GB of RAM . I really don?t think its caused due to low system. Stripe is kind of a shard but a fixed size based on stripe value / filesize. Hence, I would expect at least the same speed or maybe little slower. Chris: Whilst I don't know what is the issue nor the root cause of your issue with using GlusterFS with Proxmox, but I am going to guess that you might already know that Proxmox "natively" supports Ceph, which the Wikipedia article for it says that it is a distributed object storage system.
