Gluster+NFS as VM datastore for ESXi - issues
Hi all, I've been trying out Gluster Platform, so some info will be from the management interface. If additional data from logs is required, please let me know which logfiles. When using a Gluster NFS volume as a ESXi datastore, creation of a disk file (vmdk) takes a considerable amount of time (with unfsd using 10-50% cpu) and then crashes unfsd. A reboot of the system seems necessary to

trying to kickstart a vm guest from my datastore
I have a new ESXi server (5.x), and trying to load some VM guests on there. I have the guests configured, but when I try and boot from ISO image, the graphics are so bad it is futile. No worries I normally use kickstart anyways. Because the ESXi (on the same network as my physical servers) cannot talk to the PXE server. But works fine on the network (I can ssh/scp in and out of the ESXi

ESXi & Gluster setup options
All, We are in the process of determining a virtualized infrastructure and wanted to hear from current users of Gluster and VMWare. What we were looking to setup was an HA ESXi cluster (2 heads) with gluster backend (4 bricks to start, replicated/distributed), all backend connectivity would be 10Gbe. Mainly the storage would be for VM images but may include NAS files later. So our

How to connect to a remote VM ESXi server with Python language?
Hi, Dear Mr/Mrs. I have trouble in connecting to a VM ESXi server with python. I am a developer using libvirt to control remote VM ESXi with python language. But I am not able to connect to a remote VM ESXi server. I make my try to solve this issue: 1: I use the function libvirt.Open() to open the remote VM ESXi Server, but I don't know how to input the password. It seems that there is no

VM Performance using KVM Vs. VMware ESXi
Hi All We are currently testing our product using KVM as the hypervisor. We are not using KVM as a bare-metal hypervisor. We use it on top of a RHEL installation. So basically RHEL acts as our host and using KVM we deploy guests on this system. We have all along tested and shipped our application image for VMware ESXi installations , So this it the first time we are trying our application

GlusterFS healing questions
Hi, We ran a test on GlusterFS 3.12.1 with erasurecoded volumes 8+2 with 10 bricks (default config, tested with 100gb, 200gb, 400gb bricksizes,10gbit nics) 1. Tests show that healing takes about double the time on healing 200gb vs 100, and abit under the double on 400gb vs 200gb bricksizes. Is this expected behaviour? In light of this would make 6,4 tb bricksizes use ~ 377 hours to heal. 100gb

GlusterFS healing questions
Hi, You can set disperse.shd-max-threads to 2 or 4 in order to make heal faster. This makes my heal times 2-3x faster. Also you can play with disperse.self-heal-window-size to read more bytes at one time, but i did not test it. How to best I/O performance for Window2008 and MSSQL guest VM
Hi There, I've moved some Windows2012 with MSSQL VMs from an hold ESXi 5.5 machine to a more recent and powerful machine running Fedora 24 x86_64 and related libvirt + KVM virtualization. I've moved the VMs filesystem to LVM slices and installed the VirtIO drivers in to all Windows VMs. I've also set both Disk and Network interface to work using VirtIO. So far so good everything works
