Using TSM to back-up glusterfs
Hi
We have been trying back-up a glusterfs (v3.1.4) area using
the Tivoli TSM software to an off-site area. The back-up
keeps failing with the following typical error messages

Gluster text file configuration information?
Where can I find documentation about manual configuration of Gluster
peers/volumes? All documentation seems to be about the gluster CLI. I
would prefer manual configuration to facilitate automation via scripts
(e.g. Puppet/Chef).
I also read in this list that it is possible to configure Raid10 via
text files... I would also like to experiment with this setup. Any
related documents on how to do

rdma or tcp?
Is there a document with some guidelines for setting up bricks with
tcp or rdma transport?
I'm looking at a new deployment where the storage cluster hosts
connect via 10GigE, but clients are on 1GigE. Over time, there will be
10GigE clients, but the majority will remain on 1GigE. In this setup,
should the storage bricks use tcp or rdma?
If tcp is the better choice, and at some point in the

[LLVMdev] LLVM Beginner Question
Hello,
I am just getting started with LLVM and am having some build issues.
I am running Snow Leopard and like to use XCode as my IDE. I know
that I need to compile with llvm-config to get all of the proper build
settings. My question is how do I incorporate llvm-config into my
XCode project settings? I would prefer to not have to use the command
line to build.
Thanks,
Graham

Unusual bug in glusterfsd
Hi,
I'm rather new to this project, having stumbled across it earlier this
afternoon, so forgive me if I'm still trying to find my way around. I
was in the need of an alternative to NFS that would let me spread the
task of sharing my downloaded source code files across a couple of
boxes, and GlusterFS looked like a great candidate, having had no luck
with Coda or OpenAFS.
I also want

BDB speed benefits
Hi.
Any idea what speed benefits the BDB translator provides over standard file
storage?
Also, how it's reliable, and what's the maximum file size it stores in the
DB?
Thanks.

balancing redundancy with space utilization
Currently it would seem that AFR will simply copy everything to every
brick in the AFR. If I did something like ...
volume afr-example
type cluster/afr
subvolumes brick1 brick2 brick3 brick4 brick5 brick6 brick7 brick8
end-volume
I would wind up with 8 copies of every file. Clearly, this is too many.
What I would rather have is maybe 3 copies of each file distributed
randomly across

Apache 2.2 under CentOS?
We've been going through some growing pains fumbling through porting
some custom
C modules that used to live under apache 1.3 into the 2.0 spec, even
though none of us
really considers ourselves a 'C developer'. We've basically got them
all working now
under the 2.0 API, and the question was posed about whether or not we
should consider
attempting to upgrade everything to run

Dual Heads?
I decided to blow out the FC2 installation I inherited on my workstation
when I started here and installed CentOS-4.4-i386. Server side stuff I
pretty
much have down cold, but getting two heads on two seperate video cards
doesn't seem to work for me. I'm using the built in Intel 865/810 card as
primary, and an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI card as secondary.
Initially, my system bios on this

A problem with gluster 3.3.0 and Sun Grid Engine
Hi,
We got a huge problem on our sun grid engine cluster with glusterfs
3.3.0. Could somebody help me?
Based on my understanding, if a folder is removed and recreated on
other client node, a program that tries to create a new file under the
folder fails very often.
We partially fixed this problem by "ls" the folder before doing
anything in our command, however, Sun Grid Engine

GlusterFS slowness due to updatedb cron job
We have seen at a number of deployments, users experiencing slowness of
GlusterFS over a period of time (as the volume usage grows). Some times it
happens once in a day. This is due to updatedb cron job script that wakes up
once in a day to index all the files it can find. It is configured by default
to ignore network file systems such as NFS and lustre. Please add fuse.glusterfs
to the list.

gluster over infiniband....
Hey guys,
I am running gluster over infiniband, and I have a couple of questions.
We have four servers, each with 1 disk that I am trying to access over infiniband using gluster. The servers look like they start okay, here are the last 10 or so lines of a client log (they are all identical):

Gluster NFS and symlink
Hi list,
Is there a configuration for gluster to have symlinks working with gluster nfs exports?
When I try to create a symlink on a glusterfs nfs mount I get:
ln: creating symbolic link `test' to `httpdocs': Unknown error 526
From nfs.log:

Possible new bug in 3.1.5 discovered
"May you live in interesting times"
Is this a curse or a blessing? :)
I've just tested a 3.1.5 GlusterFS native client against a 3.1.3 storage pool using this volume:
Volume Name: pfs-rw1
Type: Distributed-Replicate
Status: Started
Number of Bricks: 2 x 2 = 4
Transport-type: tcp
Bricks:
Brick1: jc1letgfs16-pfs1:/export/read-write/g01
Brick2: jc1letgfs13-pfs1:/export/read-write/g01
