Disabling NFS
Howdy,
With 3.1.3 the option was added to disable the builtin Gluster NFS.
Does that mean that the following scenario should work:
1. Disable Gluster NFS "gluster volume set <VOLUME> nfs.disable on"
2. Restart the gluster servers for good measure
3. On one of the gluster servers, mount the volume using the gluster fuse client:
mkdir /export/users
# In /etc/fstab add

problems with gluster 3.2.4
Hi, we have 4 test machines (gluster01 to gluster04).
I've created a replicated volume with the 4 machines.
Then on the client machine i've executed:
mount -t glusterfs gluster01:/volume01 /mnt/gluster
And everything works ok.
The main problem occurs in every client machine that I do:
umount /mnt/gluster
and the
mount -t glusterfs gluster01:/volume01 /mnt/gluster

Migrate from an NFS storage to GlusterFS
Hi -
I already have an NFS server in production which shares Web data for a
4-node Apache cluster. I'd like to switch to GlusterFS.
Do I have to copy the files from the NFS storage to a GlusterFS one, or
may it work if I just install GlusterFS on that server, configuring a
GFS volume to the existing storage directory (assuming, of course, the
NFS server is shuuted down and not used

Best practice to stop the Gluster CLIENT process?
Hi all!
What's the best way to stop the CLIENT process for Gluster?
We have dual systems, where the Gluster servers also act as clients, so
both, glusterd and glusterfsd are running on the system.
Stopping the server app. works via "/etc/init.d/glusterd stop" but the
client is stopped how?
I need to unmount the filesystem from the server in order to do a fsck on
the ext4 volume;

OT: a very big problem with ipsec-tools on CentOS5 (SOLVED)
Buf ... Solved. Problem was that /etc/pam.d/racoon doesn't exists (I found this
tip on NetBSD ipsec pages). Simply I have copied /etc/pam.d/passwd to
/etc/pam.d/racoon and now all works as expected.
Many thanks for your help Ross.

single storage server
I have a single storage server which exports /data to number of clients.
Is it ok to access the data on the storage server directly (ie not via glusterfs mount) ?
(I know this causes problems when there are multiple servers ).
This would simplify some configurations.

GlusterFS compared to KosmosFS (now called cloudstore)?
Hi.
I'm evaluating GlusterFS for our DFS implementation, and wondered how it
compares to KFS/CloudStore?
These features here look especially nice (
http://kosmosfs.sourceforge.net/features.html). Any idea what of them exist
in GlusterFS as well?
Regards.

Fuse problem
Hello all,
I'm running a 64bit Centos5 setup and am trying to mount a gluster
filesystem (which is exported out of the same box).

Gives me:

mtime handling seems generally buggy for directories
Hello again,
as stated earlier there is a problem with mtime setting on directories during
healing in replication setup.
Today I tested 2.0.5 and found out that the handling is more or less generally
buggy for directory mtimes.
Simply try this:
untar some kernel archive on your local disk and look at the mtime of the
created top directory. now untar the same archive on an exported gluster fs

Looking for configuration suggestions
I am in the process of completely overhauling the storage setup here and
plan to go to glusterfs.
The storage involved is 8x Coraid units, 2x JetStor and a Dell MD3000.
The Coraid and JetStor are network connected via ATA over Ethernet &
iSCSI. The disks are also being upgraded to 1TB in the process. I do
plan to use unify to bring most if not all the storage together.

estimation of drift of continuous random walk
Dear R-Users,
I have the following problem to solve and I wonder if there are means in R
that can help me.
At irregular time intervals I observe a random walk process, Y, with
time-varying drift. I assume that the drift, D, is a (linear) function of
some parameter X. The goal is to estimate D(X).
I could regress Y_{t+dt} - Y_{t} ~ X, but it's probably not appropriate
since Var(Y_{t+dt} -

mutable objects
Hi,
I need "mutable" objects that I can safely modify in my C code. All call
interfaces, e.g. .C, .Call, etc., require you to not modify the "in" args.
The description of the OOP package in R-news from Sep 2001 alludes to a
possiblity of such objects, but the package itself is no longer on Omegahat
and I am not sure I need the full machinery.
Thanks, Vadim
P.S. I wonder

A question about memory ballooning
Hi all,
How can I manage automatically memory ballooning under a kvm host
(C5.6 and future C6)?? For example if I define a kvm guest to boot up
with 512MB of RAM and I have configured 1GB as a maximum memory for this
guest, how can I allocate this memory when guest will need it??
And the opposite question, can memory balloon be deallocated?? And is
it possible to do this automatically or
