Win clients on other subnets
Hello! I have Samba 2.0.0 installed on an UltraSPARC server (Solaris 2.6, NIS). I only use Samba for file and printer sharing (I have about 15 Win-clients). My smb.conf is minimal. Everything works fine. Now I want 5 more Win98-clients to use the Samba shares. However, these are on a different subnet. When I try 'net view \\myserver' on one of these boxes I get: Error 51: The

Hello, Here is my setup : Telephone 1 ( GXP 2000 ) Telephone 2 ( SPA942 ) Asterisk 1.4.17 ( same behaviour on Asterisk 1.4.23.1 ) Scenario: I don't like the default asterisk transfer feature, so I am trying to write my own. What I did : 1. Added to dynamic features #3 with AGI pointing to my php script 2. PHP script asks the user to enter his/her extension 3. PHP connects to Asterisk

Debugging sieve-options
Hello all! I am using a dovecot-server since several weeks - and am really impressed about this server (after using courier and cyrus). I tried to install the sieve-plugin now (CentOS RPM) and configured sieve like described in your WIKI (and on several other pages). Unfortunately I can not connect to port 2000 (sieve-administration?!) nor are there any messages regarding sieve in the logs.

Support for here documents with sftp client in OpenSSH 2.5.1p 1-1 (RH Linux 6.2 [2.2.x kernel])
Damien, I was going down the path of public key authentication when I encountered problems. I've been discussing it off-line using the simple example of creating a key pair with no passphrase for an account on "myserver", then trying to connect to myserver using the "ssh -i id_dsa myserver" command. It's not working, so we're debugging now (see below). If you

dynamic public directory
Hi all I''ve been using the howto on using subdomains as account keys to make it easy for my users to access their accounts. I was wondering if it might also be possible to assign different public directories based on the subdomain. so for example, when a user enters user1.example.com/index.html rails would look in some_dir/user1/public for index.html and when it''s user2 it

Which DNS to use for DHCP hostname/IP updates from non-AD & AD nodes?
I suspected something odd and possibly too invasive was being done by the BIND9_DLZ module, especially because of the need to relax AppArmor on Ubuntu. Resolving that security problem really should be a development priority, but I also realize it's a resource and time issue. I suppose because it is not a direct security vulnerability and would require Bind9 to be compromised there is

Patterns in HostName ?
I have a Unix host that's DHCPd, so resolv.conf is rewritten. Because of company policies, it's not allowed to change the client dhcp config to override the search path. I also need to login to a large number of machines in a specific subdomain; eg in a lab environment. Is it possible to do something like Host *.lab Hostname %h.sub.domain.example.com so if I "ssh

Which DNS to use for DHCP hostname/IP updates from non-AD & AD nodes?
With Linux DHCP + Bind it was possible to have the DHCP server dynamically update Bind as new clients appeared. I don't need the clients themselves updating DNS records directly. For those few nodes using static IP addresses and not on the AD domain, I'm fine with having to manually enter their A/PTR records into the DNS database. IIRC normal MS Windows AD DC allows for nodes that are

dumb sendmail question -- how to get outbound messages to use "example.com" instead of hostname?
Hi List, I have a dumb sendmail question, and I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction (besides "sendmail list is two doors down on the left" ;-). One of our clients has a bunch of servers -- CentOS 5 -- that are on only a private network that's NATted to the outside world -- that is, those servers can initiate outbound connections fine, but don't

Which DNS to use for DHCP hostname/IP updates from non-AD & AD nodes?
I am considering which DNS implementation and cannot determine exactly when someone should use the Bind9 manner with BIND9_DLZ Module. For my purposes, I will have AD and non-AD nodes on the network using either DHCP or static IP addresses. Some will be Windows & Linux clients joined on the Samba AD domain for logins. Some will be Windows & Linux clients that are standalone using

Block ssh logins for specific hostnames (CNAMES) all bound to same IP ???
Hi, I'm interested in the ability to block ssh logins (or alternatively, not have sshd answer client requests) for certain hostnames that are DNS CNAME aliases to the canonical name for a given IP address. To tell you the truth, I don't think this is currently possible through this setup, and may look further to try to block it at the firewall, but that's a different discussion... :)

Dynamically setting the session domain?
Does anyone know a way to dynamically change the session_domain option of ActionController::CgiRequest? I want to have a login section on an index page (www.example.com) that takes a subdomain, username, password, authenticates, then redirects to http://#{subdomain}.mysite.com. I need to set the session_domain option (to the subdomain) dynamically so the cookie can be read when the user arrives
