trying to kickstart a vm guest from my datastore
I have a new ESXi server (5.x), and trying to load some VM guests on there. I have the guests configured, but when I try and boot from ISO image, the graphics are so bad it is futile. No worries I normally use kickstart anyways. Because the ESXi (on the same network as my physical servers) cannot talk to the PXE server. But works fine on the network (I can ssh/scp in and out of the ESXi

glustefs as vmware datastore in production
Nice to read this. Any particular reason to *not* run the OS image in glusterfs cluster? [3.0.2] booster + unfsd failed
Hi list. I have been testing with glusterfs-3.0.2. glusterfs mount works well. unfsd on glusterfs mount point works well too. When using booster, unfsd realpath check failed. But ls util works well. I tried 3.0.0-git head source build but result was same. My System is Ubuntu 9.10 and using unfsd source from official gluster download site. Any comment appreciated!! - kpkim root at

glustefs as vmware datastore in production
Hi, Does anyone have glusterfs as vmware datastore working in production in a real world case? How to serve the glusterfs cluster? As iscsi, NFS? Re: Error while starting the node on ESXi hypervisor
Thanks a ton for the reply Matthias. I am little confused here. How to add volume on my esx server using virsh? I did SCP and copied my vmdk image to [datastore1] testNode/cluster.vmdk and also modified my xml file as you suggested. Now when I tried starting the node it gave me an error message saying: "error: Failed to start testNode error: internal error: Could not start domain:

unfsd scalability issues
Hello there, I believe that unfsd ( http://unfs3.sourceforge.net/ ) now does have multi-threaded capability and as such should be fairly well scalable. I am using it on CentOS 6.2 and it seems to become all but unusable when more then 3-4 users connect to it. Is that normal? What sort of experience have other people had? Is there a way to parametrically tune it, by the way? Thanks. Boris.

Error while starting the node on ESXi hypervisor
Hi, Today I was trying to start a node using libvirt on ESX (esxi-5.1) hypervisor and I got the following error message: *virsh # define /local/myNode/esxdomain.xml* *Domain testNode defined from /local/myNode/esxdomain.xml* *virsh # start testNode* *error: Failed to start domain testNode* *error: internal error: Could not start domain: GenericVmConfigFault - Cannot open the disk

Possible split-brain
Hi all, I have 4 glusterd servers running a single glusterfs volume. The volume was created using the gluster command line, with no changes from default. The same machines all mount the volume using the native glusterfs client: [root at localhost ~]# gluster volume create datastore replica 2 transport tcp 192.168.253.1:/glusterfs/primary 192.168.253.3:/glusterfs/secondary

glustefs as vmware datastore in production
Sometimes os disk hang occured and re-mounted with ro in vm guest(centos6) when storage was busy. After install vmware plugin, increased block response timeout to 30 sec. But os workload reponse time was not good. I guess my system composed with 5400 rpm disks with raid6. Overall storage performance is not good for multiple os images. best regards. vmware datastore mounted by NFS
I recently moved my vmware datastore from a local disk partition to an NFS share (in preparation for some other system changes that are still in progress). In the init sequence, vmware loads before the NFS share gets mounted, so it checks the datastore, and finds it empty. Makes it hard to start a VM. :( As a temporary fix, I added the line service vmware restart to rc.local, but I consider

creating a floppy image from a linux file
Hi, I am still trying to get kick-start centos in my vmware5 because pxe cannot find the pxe server. I do not control the dhcp or pxe server. I have both my kickstart file and my iso image for centos6.5 on my vmware datastore, but am trying to run my kickstart file from VMware guest. Can I tell the command line to run from the datastore in VMWare? Or must I convert my kickstart file to a

[LLVMdev] Code Generation Problem llvm 1.9
I sent a long message yesterday describing a problem I thought had to do with the JIT stubs. After further investigating, the problem seems to be in the code generation. The following basic block seems to have an error in it's code generation: __exp.exit: ; preds = %codeRepl258, %__exp_bb_bb.exit phi double [ 1.000000e+00, %codeRepl258 ], [ %.reload.reload.i,

Two departments on two different locations
Hi there, like topic sais, I'd like to build a domain-system with two locations. Our users work one day here the other day in the other place. The two locations are connected via VPN (10MBit). To have one datastore in sync on both locations I was thinking about something like a distributed filesystem (e.g. ceph). Why? I hope to be able to setup the cluster between the two locations with a

Linux fs ACL ignored for Samba4 share in Windows?
This command lists all directories in iss_num. However the . (iss_num itself) has drwxrwxr-x Now for the incriminating file example that shows abnormal ACL in Windows: the file resides in iss_num/am/uz and has -rwxrwxrwx So there is no + in listing for share directory nor for files in the directory structure.
