Unicode conversions from JA encodings
Background link for those unfamiliar: http://www.debian.or.jp/~kubota/unicode-symbols.html W3's suggestions for within XML: http://www.w3.org/TR/japanese-xml/ The nice thing about this document is it gives data for a bunch of different translation tables, and enumerates their differences. (This is only about Japanese encodings. I believe similar problems may exist for Chinese and Korean;

Unicode Font
Our Open Source Windows application needs a good, as full as possible, Unicode font for a specific function (this is to display most world-wide characters, including Korean, Indian, Chinese and Japanese characters, and is unrelated to the 'locale' being used). If it can't find one via calls to the API 'EnumFontFamiliesEx', it issues a message to the user saying this function

How to make UNICODE characters to display correctly?
I run WBridge5 (French version) under wine-1.1.1 on FreeBSD-7.0. It runs ok except for every UNICODE character is replaced by the little box. Also in some message boxes symbols that obviously should be some French characters that aren't part of normal Latin alphabet are replaced with Chinese characters. How to make UNICODE to display correctly? Thank you, Yuri

working with rails and unicode
I''m trying to get basic unicode support working using the "Iteration A1" sample application from the "Agile Web Development With Rails" book. Following the "HowToUseUnicodeStrings" wiki document, I have made the following changes: config/environment.rb: # Include your application configuration below $KCODE = ''u'' require

When is font fallback and/or non-Unicode support scheduled to be fully implemented?
Font fallback, at least for simplified Chinese, doesn't work at all. (Characters are displayed as boxes usually) Users have to modify the fonts via winecfg. Support for non-Unicode programs is also imcomplete (displayed as weird characters that most probably belong to some European charset).

[Repost, with Formatting] Trying to understand unicode character entry, goes into postgres DB backing rails, saved to yaml as \xc4\x81
Apologies on unformatted send previously, i hit Enter and the web UI posted, to my chagrin. 1. Examine the Unicode standard''s code page collection for "Latin small letter a with macron". 2. Nets U0100.pdf 3. "Latin small letter a with macron" appears on chart as 0101. This is a hexidemial number which points to U+0101 as its code point. Converting 0101 to decimal

Parsing and deparsing of escaped unicode characters
In both R and JSON (and many other languages), unicode characters can be escaped using a backslash followed by a lowercase "u" and a 4 digit hex code. However when deparsing a character vector in R on Windows, the non-latin characters get escaped as "<U+" followed by their 4 digit hex code and ">": > x <- "I like \u5BFF\u53F8" > cat(x) I like

[Bug report] Chinese characters are not handled correctly in Rterm for Windows
Thank you for the report and initial debugging. I am not sure what is going wrong, we may have to rely on your help to debug this (I do not have a system to reproduce on). A user-targeted advice would be to use RGui (Rgui.exe). Does the problem also exist in R-devel? https://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/rdevel.html Your example? print("ABC\u4f60\u597dDEF") is printing two

[Bug report] Chinese characters are not handled correctly in Rterm for Windows
Thanks for the update. I believe I've fixed a part of the problem you have reported, the crash while entering Chinese characters to the console (e.g. via Pinyin, the error message about invalid multibyte character in mbcs_get_next). The fix is in R-devel 74693 - Windows function ReadConsoleInputA no longer works with multibyte characters (it is not documented, probably a Windows bug,

Ask for advice on exact requirements to fix #699 mixed CJK numbers
I am working on "#699 Better tokenisation of mixed CJK numbers", and have implemented a partial patch of Chinese for this ticket. Current code works well with special test cases and all tests in xapian-core could still pass. But I'm confused with exact requirements of the question, for how much we could pay with performance on enabling more cases, and if there are better methods to
