proposed new doco for "Gluster 3.1: Installing GlusterFS on OpenSolaris"
Hi all Reference: http://support.zresearch.com/community/documentation/index.php/Gluster_3.1:_Installing_GlusterFS_on_OpenSolaris I have found this guide to be too brief/terse, and have endeavoured to improve it via more of a recipie/howto approach - and possibly misunderstood the intent of the brief directions in the process. Please advise if there are any errors? Once the procedure is

Backing up glusterfs files using LVM snapshot
Hi, We have recently set up bacula to backup our databases and some local storages on some machines. For backing up the files that we keep on GlusterFS, we plan to directly take a snapshot of the ext3 file system (which is exported by the glusterfs server) and then backup this snapshot using bacula. I have following questions in this regard: 1. Are there any potential pitfalls of accessing the

Thank you + Glusterfs design question
Thank you to everyone who helped me with the Fedora 10 rpmbuild issue. The "--without modglfs" worked like a charm. I would like to do a sanity check on a GlusterFS design I was planning to implement. I have a situation where I have many machines, each with different amounts of disk storage available under a /scratch mountpoint. As a first step, I would like to use the

GlusterFS startup problems
Hello, I'm quite new to GlusterFS. Recently I tried to install GlusterFS based on the instructions found in the *Install and run GlusterFS v1.3 in 10mins<http://www.gluster.org/docs/index.php/Install_and_run_GlusterFS_v1.3_in_10mins> * page in the wiki. After installation, I tried to execute GlusterFS by entering the following command: '*glusterfs --help*', wherein I received the

TCP/IP Settings
Hi everyone, I am currently converting my AoE/GFS setup over to GlusterFS. So far I have been very impressed with Gluster and am loving it's ease of use. I wrestled with GFS for days, and still do too much IMO. ;) I had a question about TCP/IP settings. I know Infiniband as interconnects would give us the best performance, but we currently do not have the budget to upgrade everything, so I

GlusterFS on a FreeBSD-Server
Hello I want to use GlusterFS as a nfs substitute for a FreeBSD Server and Linux clients. The FreeBSD-server should export several directories. One of these directories contains the home-directory for the client-mashines. The problem is that my GlusterFS setup isn't very stable and crashes quite often. It is less stable, when more than one volume is mounted, but even when only one volume is

My ignorance and Fuse (or glusterfs)
I have a very simple test setup of 2 servers each working as a glusterfs-server and glusterfs-client to the other in an afr capacity. The gluster-c and gluster-s both start up with no errors and are handshaking properly.. One one server, I get the expected behaviour: I touch a file in the export dir and it magically appears in the others mount point. On the other server however, the file

Logging to Syslog
Is there a suggested way to get the Gluster client/server logs handled by a local syslog daemon without too much trouble? My main reason for doing this is to get the logs to a central logging server and for easier log rotation. It looks like a patch was submitted but doesn't look to ever have made it in: http://www.mail-archive.com/gluster-devel at nongnu.org/msg05465.html I'm
