Vservers and shorewall
hello I''m using the 2.6 series 5 vservers on eth1 running on debian unstable and I wanted two of them to be used as "proxies". One of the proxies has 3 interfaces (well 4 if you count the ath0 interface whose traffic I''d like to pass through the "vproxy"); one facing the hosts''/out interface, one facing the "dmz" where two vservers

I'm running dahdi on the host system, and have added the /dev/dahdi/ devices to the guest vserver as recommended in Beave's "Virtual Private Asterisk" whitepaper (http://www.telephreak.org/papers/vpa/). I tried copying libtonezone.so and libtonezone.h to the guest, but I couldn't anything to replace zaptel.h in DAHDI souce (it seems dahdi.h was deprecated?). I need to

bad hardlinks with rsync
Hi List I've experienced some problems with rsync. I'm backuping a complete machine's rootdirectory. After completion I see in the log of the output, that rsync links some files which are surely *not* the same on the source System. Or well, it says, that it makes links, using the filename1 => filename2 notation. On the source System this files are not the same and some files are

Shell Expansion in logcheck.logfiles
I'm running logcheck on a machine hosting a bunch of virtual machines using vserver, so I'd like to expand shell wildcards in the "logcheck.logfiles" file. So instead of entering /var/lib/vservers/v1/var/log/syslog /var/lib/vservers/v2/var/log/syslog /var/lib/vservers/v2/var/log/syslog I can enter /var/lib/vservers/*/var/log/syslog which gets expanded to the same thing as

puppetd daemon vs. cron
Hi, I''m running multiple vservers and have some aspects managed via puppet. I noticed that puppetd consumes from 20 to 60 mb RAM and the longer the process runs, the more RAM it takes. It looks like 60MB is the top what I measured. Having a couple of vservers (11 in my case) this can already take up to 500MB just for puppet! I''m wondering if there''s any downside in

--no-detach option?
How about adding a --no-detach option (to be used in combination with --daemon) to rsync so it can be run under Dan Bernstein's daemontools' supervise? If there's interest I'll provide a patch. -- Jos Backus _/ _/_/_/ Santa Clara, CA _/ _/ _/ _/ _/_/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/
