Migrate from an NFS storage to GlusterFS
Hi - I already have an NFS server in production which shares Web data for a 4-node Apache cluster. I'd like to switch to GlusterFS. Do I have to copy the files from the NFS storage to a GlusterFS one, or may it work if I just install GlusterFS on that server, configuring a GFS volume to the existing storage directory (assuming, of course, the NFS server is shuuted down and not used

Exporting nfs share with glusterfs?
Hi all, Is it possible to use a nfs share to serve as a glusterfs server process?? For example: I have a host that mounts a nfs share from a solaris server under /mnt. Can I use this /mnt directory for a glusterfs server?? Thanks. -- CL Martinez carlopmart {at} gmail {d0t} com

Hello all, I'm running a 64bit Centos5 setup and am trying to mount a gluster filesystem (which is exported out of the same box). glusterfs --debug --volfile=/root/gluster/webspace2.vol /home/webspace_glust/ Gives me: <snip> [2009-08-11 16:26:37] D [client-protocol.c:5963:init] glust1b_36: defaulting ping-timeout to 10 [2009-08-11 16:26:37] D [transport.c:141:transport_load]

OT hardware issue: HP controller to 3rd party RAID
Hi, folks, Got an old HP box with a P800 Smart Array controller. The HP RAID box plugged into it's failing, and we got a new JetStor. Anyone know if we can just plug the JetStor in and set it to passthrough, or if we have to use the P800's firmware to set up the RAID, or other gotchas? I *think* we could use the RAID boxes firmware to build the RAID, but last resort would be

GlusterFS compared to KosmosFS (now called cloudstore)?
Hi. I'm evaluating GlusterFS for our DFS implementation, and wondered how it compares to KFS/CloudStore? These features here look especially nice ( http://kosmosfs.sourceforge.net/features.html). Any idea what of them exist in GlusterFS as well? Regards. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

semi-OT: HW
Running CentOS 6.7, on an older HP DL580 G5. We've got a Dell 12-bay RAID box plugged into a PERC H800 (aka LSI Liberator) that we put in the HP, and that works fine. We've got a new RAID (a JetStor), and are trying to plug it in. The layout is that the Dell RAID is dual-pathed DAS. Each PERC has two DAS ports. We've got the Dell RAID in the top port of each PERC. I *thought* I could

mtime handling seems generally buggy for directories
Hello again, as stated earlier there is a problem with mtime setting on directories during healing in replication setup. Today I tested 2.0.5 and found out that the handling is more or less generally buggy for directory mtimes. Simply try this: untar some kernel archive on your local disk and look at the mtime of the created top directory. now untar the same archive on an exported gluster fs and

17G File size limit?
Hi everyone, This is a strange problem I have been having. I'm not sure where the problem is, so I figured I'd start here. I as having problems with Bacula stopping on 17Gig Volume sizes, so I decided to try to Just dd a 50 gig file. Sure enough, once the file hit 17 gigs dd stopped and spit out an error (pandora bacula)# dd if=/dev/zero of=bigfile bs=1M count=50000 File size

Coraid Ether Drives
Hello My company is changing server software to CentOS on Dell equipment. At the same time we are expanding our RAID system from standard SCSI to either SATA, or the technology brought forward by Coraid using the AoE protocol. Before we take the final decision I am looking for some real experience with Coraid products on a scale of 30+ disks. We will be using a cluster of four servers with a mix

Corrupt inodes on shared disk...
I am having problems when using a Dell PowerVault MD3000 with multipath from a Dell PowerEdge 1950. I have 2 cables connected and mount the partition on the DAS Array. I am using RHEL 4.4 with RHCS and a two node cluster. Only one node is "Active" at a time, it creates a mount to the partition, and if there is an issue RHCS will fence the device and then the other node will mount the

Spool is on network attached storage (Coraid). File system is ext4 (mounted with noatime). Problem appears almost every morning (while load is normal during afternoon). I suspect that this can be related to some

ATA-over-Ethernet v's iSCSI
Nick, What are you planning on running over the shared connection? Database, eMail, File Shares? How many users? How much data? What is your I/O profile? I've worked with 'enterprise' storage most of my career either as a consumer, adviser or provider - can't comment on AoE other than to suggest you look at what are the business & technical goals, how they solve it and what

Building a new storage setup
I'm planning on moving an existing storage setup that is a horrible kludge of cross mounted NFS. I have 8x Coraid shelves and 2x JetStor units that I want to aggregate into one large storage pool and then keep it replicated (via AFR?) to a remote location. My current thought is to create a separate brick for each unit and then use unify to turn them into one large filesystem. Since I
