1.0.beta5 released
Just two changes:
- Beta4's SSL proxying rewrite worked worse than I thought.
Reverted it back to original code.
- Filesystem quota plugin now looks up the mount path correctly.

1.0.beta6 released
Fixes, mostly:
* The login and master usernames were reversed when using
master_user_separator (now the order is UW-IMAP compatible).
* Killing dovecot master process now kills all IMAP and POP3
processes also.
+ -a parameter to dovecot prints now all settings that Dovecot uses.
-n prints all settings that are different from defaults.
+ Added pop3_lock_session setting
+ %M modifier

1.0.beta4 released
I haven't had yet time to read all the mails in this list which I
skipped in the last few of weeks. I'll try to get to them eventually.
This release contains several new features which haven't been fully
tested yet, such as ACLs, master users and Maildir++ quota. If you
intend to use them, test them properly first.
This is the first Dovecot release where it's supposed to work

"qc-usb" kernel module src.rpm for CentOs 4.2 compile issues
Hi Ignacio,
I'm running Centos 4.2 on some machines and just wonder which is the
correct procedure to build one of your packages i've fonund in the
fedora.ivazquez.net for FC4 but for CentOs for kernel-modules:

ant RPM for CentOS 4
Attempting to build OpenOffice 2 on CentOS 4 from rawhide (future FC5) SRPM.
The spec file has EL4 target (which is nice), and I got almost all dependencies
in place (mostly from 4.2beta and some from rawhide). However, I'm missing the
ant package. Ant from rawhide doesn't compile since it is already gcc 4 based
(fails on dependencies, getting it to use gcc4 instead of gcc seems like

1.0 beta1 released
As promised, here it is finally.
v1.0 is getting nearer and I want people to start looking at Dovecot's
sources. Getting some more help with development would be nice, but I'd
also like to hear if there are any hidden bugs in the code. So, one week
from now I'll start offering 1000 EUR for the first person to point out
a remotely exploitable security hole in Dovecot. See

Install/configure on FC4 with maildir and mysql
Hello,
I have a FC4 x64 server that I am configuring/testing.
It had dovecot 0.99 loaded after I did a yum update.
That worked great with mbox, the passwd file, and test users in
/home/users/username.
I would like to be able to authenticate virtual users by
'username at domain.com' and have them be able to use squirrelmail or
Outlook/Outlook Express to access their email.
Users have

1.0.beta2 released
I had originally thought that I'd do a complete audit of the Dovecot's
sources this weekend, but looks like I didn't. Hopefully I've been
writing good enough code that the "1000 EUR for security hole" offer
lasts for a long time. :)
This release should fix the SSL parameter regeneration problem. There
were two changes that were needed to fix it, but I had forgotten the

1.0beta3 released
Since there have been so many requests, I guess it's time for beta3 now.
There are a couple of issues that I'm still concerned about, but those
probably happen with beta2 as well.
If you're beginning to see more connection hangs/timeouts with this
release, please tell me.
* Dotlock code changed to timeout faster in some situations when
the lock file is old.

Dovecot-1.0.beta7 Build Fedora 3 Error
Hello
I'm attempting to configure Dovecot with mysql support so I'm able to
have a single database of users and point both postfix and dovecot to
this db.
I currently have an rpm src that I have download and placed in my
RPMBUILDROOT of my linux box.
Next I configured the .spec file and attempted to run a rpmbuild -bb
Near the end of the install phase I receive an error which has me

Trouble mounting a second drive
I am tying to mount a second hard drive to my server with CentOS
installed on the primary hard drive. I need to get some data off of
the drive. It also has Linux installed on it. It was the primary hard
drive on the system it was installed on.
When I set it up as the second disk it will not boot the drive because
it has /boot partition on it. So it conflicts with the /boot partition
on the primary

Problems with Dovecot 1.0 beta7 rpm form atrpm for RHEL4
Hi,
I just want to install dovecot 1.0 beta7 from atrpm and noted that it
depends on a non official dependency.
If you have RHEL4 (Centos) 4.3 fully updated and you try to install:
http://dl.atrpms.net/all/dovecot-1.0-0_10.99.beta7.el4.at.i386.rpm
You get this error:
# rpm -ivh dovecot-1.0-0_10.99.beta7.el4.at.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:

fedora core 4 + mysql 5 + dovecot
hi all
just a quick question
i have dovecot (0.99.14 yum install) running on my fc4 server
to get this working, i had to downgrade from mysql 5 to fedora's mysql rpm's
i really would prefer to use mysql 5, but to satisfy the dependencies, i
had to go to mysql 4
now, i just want to know if there is an rpm (linux rather than specific
fc4 version is fine) out there for dovecot, that i

selinux
Probably a very know problem but I fail to find a solution.
selinux enforced makes the /etc/init.d/dovecot start command fail
If I change it to permiscious mode then it works.
Any idea how to solve this?
I use FC5 with dovecot-1.0-0.beta2.7
Thanks,

Volume of patches for CentOS vs Fedora
I'm trying to come to a decision between CentOS 4.2 and Fedora Core 4
for use on a server. One of the things the server will be serving is X
desktops so there are some advantages to Fedora.
However, one thing I can't help but notice is that the patch volume for
FC4 from Oct 11 2005 thru the present compared to CentOS 4.2 for the
same period is about 5 times greater. In fact, since

1.0beta5 released
Dear friends,
I am trying to upgrade dovecot 1.0-alpha3 to dovecot 1.0-beta 5, but I have
some problems to do that.
When I install its rpm I get a message which indicates I have to install
some dependences such as openssl-0.9.7f-7.i386, sqlite-3.2.8-1.9.el4 and
libk5crypto.so.3.
I haven't had any problems with openssl and sqlite but I always get a
message that I need to have the libraries

setuid(5000) failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
I have combed google for days searching for an answer to this but
cannot find anything anywhere, I'm hoping that posting to this list
will get me the solution.
I have FC4 running dovecot v1.0.beta7 to serve my POP3 (I had to
install v1.0.beta7 because it's on a x86_64 and I need mysql
support). It runs great for about two hours, after which I start
getting the resource
