still missing ISO8859-1.so in RC4 on solaris 9
Hi all.
I've been struggling for weeks now to get Samba 3 working on Solaris 9...
At least, configure is happy now with my iconv, but still I get these:

Samba and SMB Signing.
I have a question I hope one of you can help me with.
In what version did Samba begin to include support for SMB signing? It looks
like 3.0 but I need to be sure.
According to http://de.samba.org/samba/whatsnew/samba-3.0.0rc4.html
<http://de.samba.org/samba/whatsnew/samba-3.0.0rc4.html> on line 14 is
states:
14) Full support for client and server SMB signing to ensure compatibility

3.0.0rc4 and recycle VFS module
Greetings.
I'm a newbie Samba user; I spent the entire weekend reading the
HOWTO's and various other tutorials and docs from around the web. So
if this is a naieve question, please don't hesitate the tell me to go
back and RTFM some more. :-)
I downloaded and compiled 3.0.0rc4 from source on a Mandrake 9.1
system (with all MDK updates installed) with the following configure

samba-3.0.0rc4 && acl-support
Hi !
I?m currently testing samba-3.0.0rc4 as a pdc with acl-support.
The box runs with debian-linux and a xfs-enabled 2.4.22-kernel.
I have defined a share which is located on a xfs-partition.
(changing acls with setfacl works well)
I activated the flag : nt acl support = yes
If I now try to change acls, i can open the win2k-acl-dialoge -
but changes are not accepted by a "permission

Samba-3.0.0rc4/ADS experience (with how-to change suggestion)
I'm nearly finished setting up a new Samba server in a Win2000 ADS
domain. So far, things have been going quite well, the combination of
Samba 3.0.0rc4 (with winbindd), krb5 1.3.1, CUPS 1.1.19, etc. has
performed admirably and was easy to configure.
I have only three issues to mention:
- the HOWTO collection, in the section talking about joining an ADS
domain as a member server, does not

SMB Signature problem against WIN2K3 server using samba3.0.0 release( Samba Developers Response requested)
There are many discussions about this problem, but none of the
developers of samba stepped in and gave any good explanation.
Is this solved in Samba3.0.0 official release? (In what's new section of
3.0.0rc4, the 14th point is win2k3 security settings related matter. Is
this the fix for SMB signature?)
In one of the discussions there is a mention of disabling security
option of Digitally

XP Pro connecting to PDC
I have followed the FAQs and HOW-TOs, including the Sign and Seal registry patch, but I am unable to make this work.
RedHat 9.0
Samba 3.0.0rc4
XP Pro SP1
When I setup the PC and join the domain, it gives me the 'Welcome to the Domain' message, but I really don't think that this has worked because of errors in the log file, (yes I can provide, and yes I am using the smb user root).

Helpers for Squid
Hi,
yesterday i've downloaded Samba 3.0.0rc4 and installed it. The
integration with Squid works fine(with NTLM). Now i would grant access
only those useres who are in a specific Windows Group. Where can i find
the "helper", that allows this?
Thanks

smbldap-tools updates (diffs)
Hi all,
I have found the smbldap-tools provided in the samba 3 tarball to have a
few glitches with the samba 3 schema. I have made my changes and 'diffed'
them with the source.
root@localhost # pwd
/usr/local/samba/sbin
root@localhost # for i in *.p*; do echo $i; diff $i
/usr/local/src/samba-3.0.0rc4/examples/LDAP/smbldap-tools/$i; done

What must be removed during samba reinstall
Hello
If I reinstall samba from version A to version B, what all files must be
removed to maintain correctness of the whole system?
Let's assume the reinstall is done in this way:
cd /usr/src/samba-3.0.2/source
./configure
make
make install
Is the answer to this question dependent on the pair of versions
(past version, future version)? For example:
3.0.1pre2, 3.0.2
3.0.2, 3.0.pre1

samba-3.0.0 & FreeBSD 5.1 not cooperating
Greetings,
I think I may be having a slight configuration problem with Samba and
FreeBSD-5.1. I'm trying to use FreeBSD's mount_smbfs(8) to mount a
remote Samba share onto my local FreeBSD filesystem. With the
configuration below, I can read all (almost; explained below) files and
directories just fine. All permissions are correct. But whenever I try
to write to the share, the write fails

Using samba as a PDC with win2k clients
Hello Samba users,
I'm trying to configure my samba server as a PDC for some Win2k
machines.
I'm running Red Hat 8.0 and samba-3.0.0rc4.
Everything seems to be ok, when using workgroup configuration, all the
shares works fine. But I cant get the Win2k clients to log in the
Domain.
It says I have a unknown user or an incorrect password. But at least it
prompted me for a user/password, so I

[PATCH server] Updated look and feel for empty grid views
When empty grids are shown (ex: no VMs in this pool) a specific graphic, message and improved action button are shown. For Task views, the user will see the current filter and an explanation that no tasks match that filter.

samba-3.0.0rc4: -P common option handler can't open secrets.tdb
It appears that there is some setup missing for handling the -P
option to commands (via popt_common_credentials_callback()).
I was trying to use the example file examples/printing/smbprint.sysv
which suggested using the "-P" option to smbclient. I am always
getting an error that "/secrets.tdb" can't be opened.
I think that what is mis-ordered is that secrets_init() is
