Rsync 2.6.5pre2 released
I have released rsync version 2.6.5pre2 -- the second (and hopefully final) pre-release for 2.6.5. The 2.6.5 release is primarily a bug-fix release to squash some annoying bugs that made it into 2.6.4, though a few minor enhancements did make it in as well. To see all the changes since 2.6.4, go here: http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/preview/rsync-2.6.5pre1-NEWS To read the pre-release man

Rsync 2.6.6 released
I have released rsync version 2.6.6. This release is a bug-fix release to handle a null-pointer bug that turned up in rsync's version of zlib 1.1.4 (this is not the recent zlib 1.2.2 security fix, which did not affect rsync) and to squash a few other minor bugs. To deal with the zlib issue, rsync has been upgraded to include zlib 1.2.3. Here is a list of the changes between 2.6.5 and 2.6.6:

Rsync 2.6.4 released
I have released rsync 2.6.4. This version has quite a few enhancements over 2.6.3, some optimizations in the delete handling, and the usual collection of bug fixes. I'd like to say "thanks" to everyone who downloaded and tested one of the pre-release versions -- the feedback was very helpful! A summary of the changes since 2.6.3 is available here:

rsync 2.6.0 (final) released
I've released version 2.6.0 of rsync. Two important things to note in the new release: 1. The default remote shell is now "ssh" unless you tell the configure you want to use something else. 2. Some bug fixes in the include/exclude code, while making things work properly, have resulted in some user-visible changes for certain wildcard strings. Read the

rsync 2.6.6pre1 released (ALERT: info on zlib security flaw)
There has been some talk about a zlib security problem that could let someone overflow the buffers in the zlib decompression code, potentially allowing someone to craft an exploit to execute arbitrary code. Since this is a decompression bug, this can only affect an rsync daemon if it allows uploads with the --compress option enabled. If you run a daemon that allows uploads, you may wish to add
