Rsync 3.0.0pre1 released
I've just released rsync 3.0.0pre1, the first pre-release version for
the upcoming 3.0.0 release. The version number is getting such a large
bump due to the addition of an incremental recursion scan (which helps
a lot with large transfers) and the official arrival of several other
new features, including ACL support, extended attribute support, file-
name character-set conversion, etc.

rsync 2.6.1 released (including security note)
Hopefully the email to the announce list will show up soon. Until then,
you can get a jump on the rest by checking out the rsync home page to
read the announcement:
http://rsync.samba.org/
It includes a security note about a fix that affects read/write daemons
that are not using chroot. If that includes you, you should look into
upgrading (or maybe enabling chroot on an older rsync).

Rsync 3.0.0pre6 released
I've just released rsync 3.0.0pre6, the latest pre-release version of
the upcoming 3.0.0 release.
Things are still progressing in our efforts to stamp out bugs for the
final release. There are still some things reported earlier that I have
either not yet had a chance to fix or have been unable to reproduce yet,
but I hope to get even more of these problems sorted out soon. Please

Rsync 2.6.4pre2 released
I've released rsync 2.6.4pre2. It was a little sooner than expected,
but I wanted to get the new keep-alive packets out for testing. Plus,
one backward-compatibility bug had the potential to be rather annoying.
The changes since 2.6.3 are here:

The changes since 2.6.4pre1 are as follows:

Rsync 3.0.1pre3 released
I have released rsync 3.0.1pre3 for testing. This version contains a
couple more bug fixes since the 3.0.1pre2 release:
- Don't allow a daemon-exclude of .* or */ to affect a (vital) "." dir.
- Fixed a glitch in the path-checking of the daemon-exclude code that
could check a relative arg against the wrong current directory.
- A couple minor chdir() improvements in the
