mount.cifs is not working (smbclient does work), somekind of recursive content in mount-dir
Hi all,
When I try to make a connection to our windows server with smbclient:
smbclient //server/dira/dirb/dirc -U username -W workgroup
Password: *****
I get a working ftp-like connection to our data.
When I try to make the same connection with mount.cifs:
mount.cifs //server/dira/dirb/dirc /mnt/mnt_dir -o user=877790
dom=workgroup
Password: *****
I get a mount to a location which appears

SMB Signing issues... smbclient works, mount does not...
Hi All,
I seem to have exactly the same problem which was described in this thread a
while ago. I have gone through every piece of information I was able to find
on mailing list archives but all I found was people reporting similar
problems and not a solution to it.
As in the original discussion if I use smbclient it works fine but if I use
mount.cifs it does not work at all. To make smbclient

CentOS 5.0 crash (cifs bug ?)
Hi
I think I hit the cifs bug described at
http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/WindowsShares
and
http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=1776
As CentOS Wiki said, CentOS 5.0 do have a bug fixed cifs.ko, so I thought it
should be in CentOSPlus repository ... so I upgrade my kernel and using
2.6.18-8.1.10.el5.centos.plus. After I use this kernel release, I
check the cifs.ko
and see the following:

Samba 3.5 & CIFS mounts - long standing issue...
Hi.
I can see that this is a long long standing issue... Apparently things
changed in Windows 2008 R2, and after upgrade of domain from R1 to R2
cifs mounts don't work anymore between Linux servers. Windows can see
Samba shares and mount them, but CIFS on another Linux box cannot...
Here is a thread with explanation in lenght:

File locks?
Hello,
Recently, the following problem started happening with a particular samba
server:
If i have a file open for reading (say, a pdf in xpdf) and then try to write
to it (say, through recompiling a latex document) it complains that it
cannot open the file for writing.
this seems like a file lock issue but I am unsure where it is happening. My
previous usage should be perfectly safe since

write.table - format
Hello there
I ` m a newbie in R and have a question about the output of write.table
My command looks like this:
write.table(datatr$V1[data.chull],file="outr.txt", quote = FALSE, sep =
"\t")
In the outputfile (outr.txt) I have an "x" in the left corner and a new
row with numbers for each column(1,2,3...).
I just want the values in my file. What should I change in

Mail server, IMAP question

My guess (you haven't provided logs or configuration information) is
that you have a misconfiguration of your mail delivery agent. It looks
like postfix is trying to deliver your mail to a directory that is
actually a file.
I'd troubleshoot that. If you get nowhere

Cifs mount / CIFS error
Hello *,
Not sure if this is to much OT for this list:
Problem:
Around 10 000 + messages in dmesg / syslog like this:
CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -126
CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -126
CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -126
the concerned site does cifs mounts for individual user homes against netapp servers
There is only one server showing those multiple messages.

Oh... let the pleasure be mine!... and why wait?
_EVERYONE_ knows that the only way to indent ruby code is 2 plain spaces.
Tabs are known to be the source of all evil and 4 spaces obviously wastes

A IE6 question....
I appreciate your help as I begin to understand Wine.
I tried installing a program from CD.
InstallShield runs (which is really cool to see it working in Linux!!:)
..but it bombs out fairly soon.
The message is that some components cannot be found.
Now, I'm lost.
The question is, do I need to install WIN 98 completely ??

RichEdit and Dlls
Hello All,
I have an app that I wrote a few years ago with Delphi 5 and one of its components is a RichEdit. That's the only thing that does not work when running it with WIne. I've got the latest build for SuSE 8, version 20020804 and it does not work as well. I know Wine has richedit.dll as part of it but would I have to install MFCs dlls or anyother dll to enable it to run.
Thank you,

Migrating corporate WinApps using Wine Question
Hello,
I have finally decided to move my Windows apps to Linux.
I have a question I hope someone can answer.
Do I create folders (anywhere) in Wine and place the app there
or do I need to use the 'INSTALL' program that comes on the CD of the app.
I have read man pages, but I don't see it nor do I 'get-it' (yet)
My brain has become so 'windowized' that I cannot figure

4.4/64-bit Supermicro/ Nvidia Sata RAID Driver
Hi,
I am installing Centos ServerCD 4.4 64-bit on a new Supermicro board,
the RAID BIOS looks fine, RAID 5, all 4 Seagate ES 250 GB drives show up
as a single array in the RAID BIOS tool, and the OS install phase
completes without a hitch.
One thing I noticed was that the OS was loading the sata_nv driver and
picking up the 4 Sata drives instead of the large RAID5 volume, it
should just

Command line not conform with mv/cp convention
This may not be regarded as a bug, but it actually affects and is sometimes
boring.
Suppose *foo* and *bar* are directories. When someone types:
*rsync foo/ bar*
rsync will sync foo/* into bar/
However, if he/she types:
*mv foo/ bar*
mv will move foo into bar/ and cp behaves like mv
I think the trailing / shouldn't matter so much. What matters should be the
asterisk after /

'mv: preserving permissions for `all.R': Operation not supported' when installing R 3.1.0 via compiling source code in CentOS
I compile R3.1.0 to install it in centOS without root. The disk partition format is NFS (network file system). After configure it ($/home/XX/download/R3.1.0/configure --prefix=/home/zj/local/R --enable-R-shlib --with-x?) successfully, I make it ($make). But there always is an error when make the base package. As bellow:

[PATCH] utils add minimal mv
mv is needed these days in initramfs.
One needs to move all the data of initramfs /run to the real rootfs.
This minimal mv utiliy originates from the existing ln.

Portech MV-378 with Asterisk
Has anyone been able to configure portech's mv-378 gateway with asterisk?
I did the configuration as per the manual but it does not work.
My server sees the portech gateway, but when the gateway is trying to
register to my server it fails. It says peer is not suppose to register.
The gateway and the asterisk box are on two different location (two network,
2 differrent IP address).
I would
