Samba 3.0.31 stills fails to read and write to socket.
Hi,
I recently upgraded my servers from 3.0.28 to 3.0.31 trying to solve the
winbind issue previously reported (Bug# 5551) but the issue is still
happening in my servers.
I have an ftp server (vsftpd), configured to use pam_winbind with krb5_auth
and I see some random disconnects and my users cant login. My samba servers
are member of a Windows 2003 domain.

restrictions for attribute access <Watchdog: Virus checked>
Hello everybody,
I have a problem with accessing class attributes. I think it might be
due to namespace access restrictions or something similar, but I'm
unable to figure it out, maybe someone knows the trick how to do
it ...

Very slow optim()
Dear list,
I am using optim() function to MLE ~55 parameters, but it is very slow to converge (~ 25 min), whereas I can do the same in ~1 sec. using ADMB, and ~10 sec using MS EXCEL Solver.
Are there any tricks to speed up?
Are there better optimization functions?
Thanks

zfs acls and MS office applications
I'm trying to use zfs acls in solaris 10. I've looked at past posts
regarding this and some online help, but am stuck. I'm currently using
samba 3.3.9; I've had the same problem with 3.3.7. samba is compiled
and running as an Active Directory member server (compiled with ldap and
kerberos). The zfs disk is local. I'm not using winbind. I compiled
with zfsacl module.

Hi,
Our samba server is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 4) with samba version: samba-3.0.33-0.17.el4. We like to authenticate all the users with our Primary Domain Controller wnidows 2008. Some users keep getting asked to enter username and password. Even with the correct password, still can't access the drive. The strange thing is that some users are

win98 dos client connection breaks
I have a lab with 24 pc's I'm trying to reimage. I have a DOS network boot disk (version==win98) and all clients connect to the Samba share. When I start the image download with xcopy, the session appears to hang immediately. With one or two, a small amount of hard drive activity will continue, but the file copy will fail. When I connect to a win2k share on similar server hardware, I

Shapiro Test P Value Incorrect? (PR#9768)

OS: Xubuntu 7.04
Submission from: (NULL) (137.122.144.35)
Dear R group,
I have noticed a strange anomaly with the shapiro.test() function. Unfortunately
I do not know how to calculate the shapiro test P values manually so I don't
know if this is an actual bug.
So, to produce the results, run the following code:

Windows permissions and inheritance
Does anybody have experience of running Samba on a domain and getting
inherited file permissions on a Samba server to more closely match the
permissions you would see on a Windows 2000 box?
I'm trying to reproduce our departmental folders on a Samba box, running
on ZFS with NFSv4 ACL's, but I'm struggling to get inherited permissions
working properly when new files are created.

Hallo,
on a school server in the neighbourhood Samba 3.0.22 (only SMB server,
"security = server") serves many Windows2000/XP clients in their
