Host with multiple names
Hi folks,
I'm running samba 3.0.33 on Solaris 9 hosts.
I have a host that has two hostnames (actual + alias). I would like to
be able to connect to this host via either hostname and be able to
access this samba data.
Note: I would prefer not to run multiple samba instances...
Has anyone else experienced this sort of issue, and have you been able
to resolve it?

SMBD not authenticating against Active Directory
Hi,
Iam trying to setup Samba version 3.2.3 on Redhat (RHEL5) server to use
Active Directory for authentication. I followed the instructions from
article in following website:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/magazine/dd228986.aspx
Setup Winbind + Samba + Kerberos and it seems to work fine. I can see the
users in Active Directory through winbind as well as authenticate users
using NTLM

How to use local profiles in samba PDC?
How do you enable local profile creation on machines connected to a samba PDC?
I thought it would be automatic, but it doesn't seem to be. If there
isn't a roving profile, windows complains it can't find your profile
on the server, then instead of creating a local one, it throws up this
message:
"Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a

confusing samba log entries
Hello,
I'm having some trouble using Samba to backup my PC with Lenovo's Rescue and Restore. In the course of analysing potential causes of the problem, I noticed in my Samba server's log (pertaining to my client PC) several "can't do this" or "can't do that" messages. Specifically, here are the messages that appear constantly:

testjoin happy but kerberos broken
Hi there
I've got a problem CentOS-4.9 Samba server that we have never been able
to join to an existing Win2K3/Win2K8 AD domain correctly. We have before
and since installed Samba successfully on other sites btw. We actually
have 55+ CentOs-4.9 Samba servers world-wide with identical configs -
there's something about this one.
Anyway, "net ads join -Uadmininstrator...." works

Payload support in ferret
Hello All:
This is potentially a ferret and ruby newbie question. I RTFM-ed (the
oreilly shortcut anyway) and didnt find anything obvious.
Are there plans for Ferret to support the notion of "payloads" introduced in
Lucene 2.2. Payloads are basically arbitrary metadata that can be stored for
each term. For example, for each term I can store, say, font information for
the term. (

Problems upgrading SAMBA
I have a series of hosts (Solaris 8,9 & 10) that are successfully
providing samba shares.
They are all using Samba 3.0.2a, and authentication is via a Windows
2000 password server.
Everything breaks when the password server is patched beyond the first
Windows Service pack.
Here are the contents of smb.conf

Samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu on 14.04 domain join seems successful with caveats, testjoin reports no logon servers...
Interesting. So would having the account I'm creating it with in the same
subdomain fix the potential trust issues, or is samba's function in a
subdomain in general in question?

using winbind to map existing unix to AD users
On our campus, we have an AD forest. Our particular department has a
number of samba servers that authenticate to one tree of that AD forest.
All of our users have accounts in LDAP for unix and AD for windows.
We don't want/need winbind for authentication. However, we would like the
ability of setting ACLs on the samba server from windows clients. So, I
assume I need a mapping of unix

Extremly slow (3-4k/s) on Win clients while Linux clients work fine
Hi,
I've migrated a Win2k fileserver to Samba 3.0.33 on Gentoo (Kernel 2.6.28).
While the Linux clients work fine, I get the absolutely worst transferrates on
Win (XP Prof + Vista) like 3-4k/s (compared to ~10MB/s on Linux).
When copying larger files on Windows, they start this slow, but the transfer
becomes faster after some time like 2Mbit/s via WLAN which would be
acceptable.

nls() fit to Kahnemann/ Tversky function

I would like to fit a curve to ten points with nls() for one
unknown parameter gamma in the Kahnemann/ Tversky function, but somehow
it won't work and I am unable to locate my mistake.

UID syncing issues with CTDB
I have been working on a CTDB cluster on and off for a while now. I had it
working great for a while. THen I decide dthat I wanted to change the
configuration of my replicated volumes. I changed my DRBD configuration to
match my desired configuration. Now I can get the CTDB to work quite right.
I am able to join the cluster to the domain without issues. I can also list

net ads testjoin OK, net rpc testjoin fails
Hello (again) all!
After successfully joining my Debian Jessie box to my Server 2012R2-based domain as a domain member, I've run into another snag. The installation worked successful for a couple days as a file server, and then after a while I stopped being able to access the file server. After trying various trouble-shooting steps (including nuking the samba and winbind installations and

How to get multiple Correlation Coefficients
Hi
I have used a polycor package for categorical correlation coefficients.
I run the following script. But there were no results.
Could you tell me how to correct the script?
Thanks in advance,
