Use ACL over NFS4
I have an NFS4 server exporting a folder, and a Samba server importing that folder which it then turns around and shares over Samba. I would like Windows machines accessing this folder and its sub folders to be properly restricted according to ACLs. The NFS4 server is running CentOS 5.7 and is NFS exporting an EXT4 folder. The Samba server is running CentOS 6.0, and Samba 3.5.4-68.el6_0.2. On the

get_ea_dos_attribute: Cannot get attribute from EA on file .: Error = No data available
Samba 4.12.1, single server with AD+DC on Ubuntu 18.04. Filesystem: /dev/sdb1 on /home type ext4 (rw,relatime,stripe=32750,data=ordered) It all work as expected, but I occasionally get the error in subject which denies access to shares. Restarting Samba will restore functionality. What can be the cause of this problem? Thanks. [2020/05/27 18:24:35.795379, 8]

Is there any problem with S4.12 and Ubuntu 18.04? Or with the default compile options on 18.04? thanks -- Lorenzo Milesi - lorenzo.milesi at yetopen.it YetOpen S.r.l. - https://www.yetopen.it/ Via Salerno 18 - 23900 Lecco -

port forwarding
Hi, I'm using CentOS release 5.6 (Final) and Xen 3.1. I'm writing to ask how to configure port forwarding. With virt-manager 0.6.1 I added the machines, but there I don't see an option for port forwarding. I would like to reach the VM on a specific port of the host machine. Once the machinces are running, I can configure iptables so that the port forwarding works, but after

Latest update gives me problems.
Hiya.. I got a new Samba for my SUSE 10.1 x86_64 by automatic update last night, and now all of a sudden my Vista workstation won't connect to the shares automatically. I have the machine as a domain controller with LDAP backend, and it's been working flawless until the new update to samba-3.0.22-13.32. My log.smbd shows this as the workstation logs in, and asks for username/password,

Hello, at our site we're using the revision control software Mercurial. A typical workflow scenariao is that we have a Mercurial repository on a Samba AD Member share and the users pull and push commits to this central repository. This workflow is broken as of Samba 4.3.4. When doing certain operations (pull or push) on the central repository on the Samba share, Mercurial complains that it

Hi Ashok, That solved this issue and moved ahead of that IPC$ share access issue. Thanks for that. Now, I am seeing the below error. Please note I am new to samba world. Pardon me if I am asking for more. Meanwhile I too will check smb.conf online doc and my smb.conf for any conflicting configurations. [EXTERNAL] Could not access a share as a guest
Appreciate your help. Yes that is true. Those files are created by some other Application(which are shared through samba). Ran wireshark, captured the packets and filtered for SMB2. Attached SMB2 filtered packets in a plain text format. I don't know what is happening from the packet tracing. SMB did create request, create response and immediately close request & close response.

Samba 4.5.8-Debian User Profiles on NFS-Share
Hello, again I'd like to get help from this list. After setting up the server, I'd like to store data an user profiles on an nfs-server. The share is writeable by the user, I can create files and directories. But - by syncing the user profile to that share i stops, telling me that my user profile is only synced partly. In the log on the WS there is a "1509" noted. Only

vfs_shadow_copy2 woes / WITH logs
Hi, finally everything is working fine on my Samba 4.6 AD Domain member server after _exactly_ following https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs (no more fiddling with acl_xattr:ignore system acls = yes, thanks Rowland Penny). Samba AD - two servers - backup and restore AD procedure
Hi All! I would be grateful for clarification of my doubts about backups and restoration of the AD environment. What is the best strategy for backing up and restoring a Samba AD domain in the following scenarios: * server1 - active directory service (7 FSMO roles) * server2 - active directory service + Samba file server The considered disaster recovery scenarios are: - Corruption of the AD
