LDAP users/groups not showing up with nis, pam, & ldap
I am trying to configure NIS, PAM, & LDAP on a CentOS 6.2 host. I've previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4, but CentOS now uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the configurations are a little different. Currently, local users and groups are showing up but not LDAP users. When I do a /getent passwd/ and/getent group/ I don't get LDAP users. When I do

Puppet client hangs if LDAP server is not accessible
Hi. I''ve noticed that on servers that are both puppet and LDAP clients, the puppet client will hang if the LDAP server is not reachable. Does anyone know what the reason for this is? Regards, Kenneth Holter --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. To post to this

Is anyone using C7 in production yet? (sssd, nss-pam-ldapd, kerberos, etc)
Hi all, Is anyone using C7 in production with LDAP and kerberos? Currently all of my machines run C5 or C6 with nss-pam-ldapd or nss_ldap, with kerberos and pam_krb5 for authentication. Before I fire up a test VM (is it even worth it?) I wanted to check feedback from the community. Cheers! Dan

member server and groups
I have a samba 3 member server joined to a samba pdc using ldap. Join is OK. Version is from debian wheezy: 3.6.6 With servers that are bdc's I have no problems with authentication, with the member server I cannot get group file permissions to work. User file permissions work fine Samba share user and group permissions work fine getent group shows expected groups with correct gid, which is

Veto files applied per group
Hi guys, I use "veto files = /.mp3/.mpg/" etc. on the [homes] share to prevent users from storing media files on a Samba server in the home directories. My client now wishes to make this restriction apply to users who are members of only certain groups. E.g. This restriction must apply to users who are members of the "Students" group and not apply to users in the

samba with customized ldap backend (fwd)
Sir, As you suggested I have already done this settings ('ldap_user_name =username') 3 year back and due to this our users are able to login in various service like ssh, imap, pop by sssd service but not able to connect/authenticate by samba. As you know in my case due to our customized ldap which start 'uid=numericID' instead of 'uid=username' samba is not able to

smbldap-tools, setting password on command line?
Hi, the smbldap tools are a great thing to have, thanks a lot! I just wonder if it would be possible to set a password via the command line, like: smbldap-passwd.pl testuser1 not24get I have to create accounts for several hundreds people every year and give them an immutable password. So long I do that with smbpasswd, ldappasswd and a tiny script around these tools. I tried smbldap-passwd.pl

NSS ldap problems
I'm having trouble setting up ldap based authenication. I have a virtual (KVM) CentOS 5.4 box set up to authenticate to a 389 (fedora) directory server, and that works fine. However, I set up a virtual box running CentOS 6, and I can't get it to authenicate. I've run authconfig with the appropriate flags, ldapsearch properly finds the data, but I can't log in. /var/log/secure

Thanks a lot for looking over the config. I am at the topic "user data is available" id <username> and getent passwd and ldapsearch -x -b "ou=XXX,o=YYY" uid=<username> give the correct results ldapsearch gives also the correct host attribute i have set in the ldap server. Regarding the manpage of sssd.conf the lines access_provider = ldap ldap_access_order =

Server crashes every hour at mass logout, smbd at 100% CPU
Hi my server crashes every 90 minutes. There is no helpfull message in any logfile, the only thing i can see is that smbd consumes 100% CPU. The server hangs completely, no access to console, no networking. This might have something to do with user logout. This server stands in a school and about 150 pupils log out after each lesson. I assume it has nothing to with printing, as printing

Using Samba4 AD to authenticate users of other Linux services (SSH, Mail, etc.)
I'm confused about how to authenticate users of other Unix services with Samba4 AD. After trying the classic upgrade on a test server, I can use smbclient. However, "getent passwd" doesn't show the users, and I'm not sure what I have to do now. On the live machines, I have openldap, pam-ldapd and nslcd running to authenticate users of Samba 3 as well as ssh, postfix,

Problem with User and Group Ownership listing
I am installing smb 3.5 on a CentOS 6.2 host using smbldap-tools. I've previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4 using smb 3.0 but CentOS now uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the configurations cannot be moved straight across. When I do a listing of a share directory that should have user and group ownership determined by LDAP, I get the uidNumbers and

Log on to Samba 4 AD DC using domain user
Hi, all, I am having trouble figuring out how to log on to a Samba 4 AD DC using any AD domain account. Has anyone had success doing this? If so, is there a guide somewhere? I have stood up a Samba 4 Active Directory Domain Controller on a Red Hat 6.3 system, and it appears to be functioning correctly. I have a Windows 7 workstation, a Windows 2008R2 storage server, and two other Red
