Sanity check my setup....
This is my first step into the world of samba and I was wondering if
the members of the group wouldn't mind casting a quick eye on my
setup.
Essentially we just want Samba integrated with AD so we can access the
Unix file systems.
Any comment will be gratefully received...!
Cheers,
Kristian
Everything seems to work, although we do get these errors:

Samba Compile Error
Hi,
I've been having the following compile error with Samba for the past few
releases. The last successful compile I have had is with version 3.0.22.
At least all the 3.0.23 versions are affected. The compile dies with:
Linking bin/tdbbackup
tdb/spinlock.o(.text+0x1d0): In function `tdb_create_rwlocks':
: undefined reference to `this_is_smp'

makepkg.sh for samba 3.0.20
Hi,
I downloaded 3.0.20 from samba.org, ran makepkg.sh to create
samba pkg for Solaris. The install base for the new version
locates in /opt/samba and the smbd locates in /etc/samba.
I tried to modify the makepkg.sh to put everything under
/usr/local/samba as follow:

static compile
Grr why is this so hard? Compiling samba-3.6.24 for android using the
sourcery toolchain. Dropbear and busybox went w/o a hitch. I've googled the
hell out of this, nothing I've found has helped.
Here's my config:

Cross compiling - size of binaries is large
Hi,
I have cross compiled samba 3.3.8 for arm, which succeeded.
However, the size of the resulting binaries is large (few MB's per binary) so
the total installation of samba sums to over 50 megabytes, after stripping the
binaries.
For example, with samba 2.0.10, the size of smbd was 281 KB. With samba 3.3.8
that is 5.2 MB. Same goes for the other binaries. It looks as if there is a
chunk of

problems compiling Samba 2.2.8 on Solaris 2.8
Hi -
I am trying to compile and install 2.2.8 to /opt/samba, but I keep getting
the following errors after I 'make install' and try to start smbd using

samba-3.3.4 AD/krb5/pam build failure on AIX 5.3/6.1 UNKNOWN_CREATE_KEY_FUNCTIONS
Hi all!
Perhaps someone here could tell me if this has been seen before.
We're trying to build samba-3.3.4 for IBM AIX with support for PAM, Active Directory, and Kerberos.
The end goal is to be able to join the AIX system to our Active Directory domain so that users can log in via their AD username/password, and have access to their home directory via the Windows pass-through authentication

unable to compile samba 3.0.28a on RHEL 5.1 i386
any ideas why it won't compile? running
/root/samba-3.0.28a/packaging/RHEL/makerpms.sh
eventually it gets to:
./autogen.sh: running script/mkversion.sh
./script/mkversion.sh: 'include/version.h' created for Samba("3.0.28a")
./autogen.sh: running autoheader -I. -Ilib/replace
./autogen.sh: running autoconf -I. -Ilib/replace
Now run ./configure and then make.

problems with winbind, ads on 3.0.25rc3
I am having a problem getting active directory domain users to
authenticate on my gentoo and debian systems with v3.0.25rc3 when it
worked perfectly with v3.0.24. I am wondering if it is something in my
configure options.
Wbinfo returns users, groups and the rpc call test succeeds. The getent
command only shows the local users.
I have double checked my nsswitch.conf as well to make sure that

smbclient: preoblems with samba 4.3.x
Hallo,
"smbclient" doesn't work with the slackware packages samba-4.3.1 and
4.3.2, it has worked with 4.2.1 and older versions.
smbclient
answers with "segmentation fault", on two testing machines (where 4.2.1
has worked well).
The slackware packets are compiled with
./configure \
--enable-fhs \
--prefix=/usr \
--libdir=/usr/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX} \

smbd problem with inotify
A few months ago we bought a GIS software. It is running under Windows
XP Pro. This software has stored its databases in dbf files, located on
one samba share. Executables reside on each WinXP Pro client. The
software simply uses dbf databases located on samba share. Each session
of the gis opens about 500 files. I have four workstations that are
allowed to run this software.

Issues while compiling samba 3.0.2a
Dear List,
First forgive me for my RTFM question yesterday about groups not appearing
in the Windows
usermanager (Karel Kulhav?, thanks for your reply). I did read the SAMBA
HOWTO Collection
but in a more 'vertical' way. This net groupmap thing must have passed my
attention.
I installed a prebuild version of Samba for redhat 8.0. Redhat however does
