ctdb: Strange behaviour after upgrade
Hi, last weekend I've updated samba and ctdb on my 2-node cluster. Samba is now on 3.5.6 (from 3.3.4), ctdb on 1.0.114 (from 1.0.84). Both installed from repo via yum and ctdb-packages. After restarting both nodes everything was fine, we could access files on the cluster. On monday I noticed that the nodes didn't had their initial adresses: Node 1: hostname dscln01, public IP

ext3-0.9.16 against linux-2.4.17-pre2
An ext3 update which also applies to linux-2.4.16 is available at http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/linux/ext3/ Quite a lot of miscellany here. It would be appreciated if interested parties could please test it in preparation for sending upstream. Thanks. Changelog: - Merged several ext2 sync-up patches from Christoph Hellwig - Drop the big kernel lock across the call to block_prepare_write.

FreeBSD ZFS maildir to mdbox
Hello, I'm converting my mailbox from Maildir to mdbox.. The Maildir is from an 1.2 server. The new server is a virtual FreeBSD ZFS server. The conversion is not working, I'm getting either segfaults or the sync just quits with errors. I also did set with mmap_disable=yes. This didn't resolve the problem. How can I fix this? The same conversion on a virtual ubuntu 14.04 box works

Promote samba-3 BDC to PDC
Hi, We have an old domain with a samba-3 PDC and LDAP backend in our HQ and two BDC in our branch offices. Since we don't use the domain in our HQ anymore and one of the branches will be moved to our new domain (2003/2008) I'm thinking about decomissioning the PDC and promote both BDCs as PDC for their branch offices and networks. I would also get rid of LDAP. Changing the backend to

ctdb, samba and WINS
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I'm in the progress of setting up clustered samba with ctdb. Samba is ADS-member server. WINS server is configured on two of our 2003-servers. When samba runs for a couple of hours I checked the WINS servers and saw that samba/nmbd registrred only the private interface addresses (192.168.1.x) and not the public interfaces (10.0.0.41,42).

Moving LDAP tree
Hi, I posted earlier to the samba-technical list, asking how to change the source to reflect my Windows 2003 setup, which apparently uses a different place to store DNS entries. But it's probably better to just move that part of the LDAP tree to where Samba expects it, so that's what I'm attempting now. (the original thread is at the end of this mail for reference) I would like to

Samba-CUPS interface
Hi, One of our Samba server (4.4.5) is a print server with CUPS backend . In addition we are using a print management product that is itself a backend to cups. Everything works well, except that the document names that are transmitted in the chain is of the form : "smbprn.00000648 MyDocument.pdf" . I guess that the prefix smbprn.00000648 is the samba job ID that is concatenated to the

Xenstored: eliminate double free and fixes for memory leak
Please review. This patch fixes a few problems: a. In handle_input(), which is called from main() in xenstored_core.c, the conn->in is freed when there is no error, but conn is freed when there is error. This is inconsistent. Moreover, the conn is freed again upon exit from handle_input(), inside the main. b. Another problem is that perms_to_strings() returned a allocated memory (via

Audio Bandwidth Of Files We Encoded
Using the Windows command-line encoder that is part of opus-tools-0.1.9, we encoded several talking book audio files for subjective listening tests. When this program is encoding speech audio at 24 or 32 kbps constant bit rate from files that have a 44.1 KHz sampling rate, which bandwidth (SWB or FB) would the encoder default to? This codec is quite impressive. The only signal that gives it some

missing symbols talloc_* (opensuse 11.4/samba 3.5.7-xxx)
I just recently upgraded to opensuse 11.4. basic smbd is running mostly fine (some name res-errors, login server missing, (can't connect to Domain service). Notably nmbd won't start due to undefined symbols: /usr/sbin/nmbd: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/nmbd: undefined symbol: _talloc_realloc_array. ldd -r shows a bunch of similar undefined symbols (shown further below). my samba rpm

When "use kerberos keytab = yes" in smb.conf is set with samba-3.2.8 and the environment variable KRB5_KTNAME is not set with the value using prefix "FILE:" or the default_keytab in /etc/krb5.conf is set without the prefix i.e. default_keytab_name = /etc/v5srvtab then the function smb_krb5_open_keytab() returns KRB5_KT_UNKNOWN_TYPE. Performance problems on solaris x86
Hi! I've successfully installed tinc on Solaris 8 x86. Everything seem to work ok except for one thing, I get 5kb/s transfer rates over a 100mbit TP connection. Is this a known problem or have I made some mistakes? My setup is really simple: anna(Win XP - Tinc 1.0.2 using the Win32-TAP driver) <=> LAN <=> sara (Solaris 8 x86 - Tinc 1.0.2 using the TUN/TAP 1.1 driver, OpenSSL

Kerberos Keytab Code Update in 3.0.23
First thing - I'd like to say a big "THANK YOU" to the developers. I just upgraded to samba-3.0.23 and I've noticed an alarming issue with respect to my configuration. I've been using the built-in keytab management and it looks like the updated code no longer creates the userPrincipal in Active Directory. Whether this is an issue for others or not, it would be nice to have
