Samba 2.2.7a - adduser script only worked the first time
I have WinXP machines loging into a samba domain. I am using this add user script: add user script = useradd -d /dev/null -g 300 -s /bin/false -M %u This worked beautifully with the first WinXP machine I set up. I immediately booted up a second machine and got the "Access Denied" error. I have tried two more computers since and keep getting the same thing but the first machine still

selinux denial of cgi script with httpd using ssl
Everyone, I am trying to use a cgi perl script for a CentOs 7 website that works fine with selinux in permissive mode but fails with selinux in enforcing mode. The problem I have is that I can not find where the selinux error message is being recorded. It does not appear to be in the /var/log/messages or /var/log/audit/audit.log. I do not get any /var/log/httpd/ssl_error_log entries. I do get

200 pop3-login processes
Dear all, I am using dovecot 1.0.0 and have only 5 pop3 users. However, I have counted over 200 pop3-loging processes. I just wonder if it is normal for dovecot (has been running maybe for 2-3 weeks after installing the stable verion). Thanks! -- Zbigniew Szalbot

tweek startup and logon
Dear All, CentOs 6 is great, but I would like to get back 2 things from 5.6 : how can I always see the text lines during startup? (so no graphical screen ) how can I *not *see all the users on the system when loging on? (so that users also have to remember their username) thanks for any advise. A naive question respecting x.509 logins
I have been looking at replacing our current login systems with a single login solution. In the process I managed to get sidetracked into investigating pam_pkcs11. My question, which no doubt reveals the depth of my ignorance, is: Can a simple USB flash memory stick be configured to work with this or some similar module of which I as yet know nothing? Everything I have managed to find about

TDB file format???
Hi. I want to use NT usernames / passwords from my PDC for loging in my server. I also want to use NFS between various UNIX machines I have. The problem is that I already have a database of username <-> UID maping (each user that has an NT username got an unique UID when he got a username). Now I want to translate this my UID database into winbindd UID tdb database, however I don't know

invalid user nobody
Hello all, I am doing some work for a public library that is still running Samba 2.2.7aif you can believe it. When checking the log files I see this error. I believe it is generated when the domain administrator is loging off. The workstation seems to be working fine, I would just like to know why I am getting this error. If anyone could please point me in the right direction or a least give

Feature/bug starting from xinetd
Hi, I hate to have my first post be a bug, but this drove me crazy for a while. I compiled the latest version from source and followed the instalation instructions. I then copied the xinetd.d entries from the Wiki and proceded to test. No matter what I did I could not log on. I found that while I was editing /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf, nothing was hapening. I then started it manualy and found

Troubles with Network Neighbourhood

Cant get getent to work with Winbind
All, I am having trouble with the getent passwd and getent group command. I am using 2.2.4-4 version of Samba on a redhat system with 2.4.18-SMP kernel. This issue seems to be intermittent. Sometimes is works and others it doesnt. More often than not, it failes. I can do a wbinfo -g and -u and get the info so I am connected to the doamin, but not getent. This will affect my users from loging

managing netgroups in /etc/passwd user resources?
Hi, I''d like to maintain netgroup entries in the /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow files to allow all unix admins loging access and default setup nologin for every non-authorized user. +@unixoperators:x::::: +:x:::::/opt/script/nologin I saw a thread about this online, but not a definitive resolution - not sure if the user resource type is the right way to implement this currently or to try to
