vfs_gpfs module errors
Hi
I'm encountering an error with some of my Windows clients when
using CTDB and samba to access a GPFS hosted share. We see the following
error all the time.
[2011/03/14 12:31:16.549084, 1] modules/vfs_gpfs.c:1099(vfs_gpfs_ntimes)
vfs_gpfs_ntimes: set GPFS ntimes failed -1
The copy continues but is slow. All the timestamps seem reasonable for
the data copied.

Ah, OK, I see - so I seem to have been wrong when assuming that I could
take the output of Samba 3.5.16 "smbd -b" command

Hello again, Samba experts,
sorry for being such a pain in your necks, but I really need to get a
recent Samba version to compile, and it looks like I definitely need
your help with this.
In the meantime, I have found that the huge number of "conflicting
types" errors for rpc_*_init(...) is due to the fact that the Samba
4.6.4 codebase seems to have for all RPC modules:

Hi all,
I have done a fair bit of searching of the mailing list archives,
google and the manual, but have not had any luck as yet. I apologize
for the length of this e-mail, but I thought it was better to provide
what I could right off the bat instead of waiting to be asked for it.

Samba 3.4.2 with Solaris ZFS Snaphots
Hi,
I'm trying to make samba working with Solaris ZFS Snaphots.
Solaris 10 is running on a x64/X86 box which is both Samba (3.4.2)
server and Zfs server.
I created home/delaye filesystem with home zfs pool.

Lots of RPC-related compile errors (conflicting types, too many arguments, ...) trying to update Samba from 3.5 to 4.6
Hello Samba experts,
due to the "SambaCry" issue (CVE-2017-7494), I am trying to update the
Samba server installation on my Thecus NAS (dating back to 2011) from
version 3.5.16 to the current 4.6.4.
So far, I have successfully
* created a cross-compiling toolchain for the NAS
(i686-nptl-linux-gnu) based on gcc-5.2
* compiled Python and Samba library dependencies for my

Slow and unpredictable Samba performance?
Hi!
I've installed Solaris 10 x86 (Core2Duo - x64) server, with Samba over ZFS
RAID-Z. Samba is a part of Active Directory Domain. I've managed to join it
to domain, to get the users and groups from A.D. and to translate them to
Unix IDs. Everything works really good. Samba is installed from the packages
from Solaris 10 DVD.
Only problem I have is the performance :( It's

Cygwin build fails because headers no longer default to Solaris ACL
Unfortunately I don't know how to write AC macros to properly solve this problem but Cygwin does not (any longer) include cygwin/acl.h from sys/acls.h which is required for Solaris ACL data structures to work. So the CASE statement improperly short-circuits the logic.
I have confirmed that Rsync builds using POSIX ACLs but haven't tested said functionality.

ACL
Hi samba group,
I'm trying to get samba to act like Windows in the Security tab (to be able
to add, remove, and modify ACLs on certain files/folders). We are running
Centos 5.2 (2.6.18-92.1.22.el5) with XFS installed for the /share partition.
I currently have these versions of samba installed:
samba-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1
samba-common-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1
I am pretty sure the ACL is all

Where is the tdbsam password database file?
I'm curious to know where the tdbsam password database file is kept on
my Fedora 7 system. Using the unmodified smb.conf file that shipped
with Fedora 7, I've enabled users using smbpasswd, and successfully
accessed shares. I just can't figure out where the password database
is located:
[root@box ~]# service smb start
[root@box ~]# setsebool samba_enable_home_dirs on

auth logging or auditing
Good morning!
I compiled samba 4.10.8 from source in a slackware 14.2 machine and imported a samba classic domain from an ldap backend. Everything works flawlessly except for a couple of user who are getting their accounts locked out periodically. I'm trying to debug this problem so I modified the smb.conf file of the DC so that it looks like this

3.3 and 3.4 compile failure on dbwrap
Hi All,
I'm having problems compiling a newer version of samba (3.3.x or 3.4.x) on
solaris 9. We are currently running 3.0.23d and have been putting off
upgrading for far to long.
I've tried gcc and sun studio 12 cc with the same issues when it comes to
compiling dbwrap.c. I can't seem to find anything on google that's related
to my issue.
Here's my configure line when

I'm having trouble compiling Samba 3.5.2 on AIX 5.3 TL10 SP1.
I'm compiling Samba with ADS support against a locally installed Heimdal

This is using the IBM xl_C compiler.
Below is the complete build logs. I'm able to get around the error if I

Samba Guest Accout Issue
So, after rebuilding and finding that somehow fixed my intial issue of
failing to connect to the ldap server, I am now having an issue with the
guest account. Any ideas, I've done some searches but haven't been having
any luck. This is on RHEL. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
