CentOS 6, Postfix, and Procmail -- how do I get it to work?
What is the trick to get Postfix's local command to pipe mail through procmail? I have: -bash-4.1$ grep allow_mail_to_commands /etc/postfix/main.cf allow_mail_to_commands = alias, forward and -bash-4.1$ cat .forward |/usr/bin/procmail and a .procmailrc file: -bash-4.1$ cat .procmailrc PATH=/usr/bsd:/bin:/usr/bin:/exp/rcf/share/bin MAILDIR=/var/lib/amanda/Mail #you'd better

For the record: Postfix+Spamassassin+ClamAV+Dovecot
Postfix 2.5.5 SpamAssassin 3.2.5 (under Perl 5.10.0) ClamAV 0.95.1 Dovecot 1.2.rc2 works fine on Fedora 10. Installed Dovecot and ClamAV from source and everything else using yum. I'm using the ClamAV plugin for Spamassassin: http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/ClamAVPlugin I'm calling Spamassassin with: /etc/postfix/main.cf: mailbox_command = /usr/bin/spamc -f -e

best practises for mail systems
hello! Can someone point me to some best practices in building high-available scalable mail system or! share your own success stories. I've read article in LJ "Building a Scalable High-Availability E-Mail System with Active Directory and More" but it seemed to be outdated and there's a single point of failure (Master node). What I want to achieve: high-available,

Convert from mbox to Maildir
Hello everybody, I am in the process to install dovecot as an IMAP server. Currently, this system runs postfix and uses procmail for local (mbox style) delivery. Procmail ist started by postfix like this: /etc/postfix/main.cf: mailbox_command = /usr/bin/procmail ~/.forward: "|IFS=' ' && exec /usr/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 # jw" Before going

Using dovecot as LDA for postfix
Hi Here is my environment: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.7 (Tikanga) postfix-2.9.1-1.rhel5 dovecot 1.0.7 I want to config a complete postfix-dovecot mail server. First I configured postfix to use procmail, its default LDA and dovecot for pop3 and imap. I didn't changed main.cf a lot, just myhostname and a few other properties. I didn't set home_mailbox. About dovecot.conf

IMAP Client Not Recieving Email (DoveCot + PostFix + IMAP Client)
- Postfix is doing its job sending and receiving email. It puts the email in the unix user mailboxes (MBOX). - My Outlook client is authenticating with DoveCot using IMAP protocol without issue. The Problem: The mail that is placed my system users mailbox by postfix is not being transmitted to my outlook client by dovecot. /etc/postfix/main.cf:

sieve filter not working
HI, > You could set > > syslog_facility = local5 > > and have all the log messages in the messages file. According to the output of command # doveadm log find every type of message goes to the file I was looking at, "/var/spool/maillog". >> So, is it postfix doing the local mail delivery, not dovecot? >> > To answer this question please post relevant

Several issues with 1.0-stable
All, We have Dovecot 1.0-stable deployed in our 3000 users environment as of last weekend. Up untill now, I have 3 issues: - When stopping Dovecot with: kill -TERM `cat /var/run/dovecot/master.pid`, the 'dovecot' process itself dies, the 'imap-login' processes die, but the 'imap' processes (there are a lot of them) don't die, but become a zombie. I think the way

problems with postfix->procmail->deliver
Hi all. I'm relatively new to Dovecot, but I really like what I'm seeing so far. I have one problem that I was hoping you could help me with though. I use Postfix for my mail server, then pass that on to procmail for filtering, and finally to deliver to put the mail in the appropriate Maildir folder. However, this isn't working. Postfix passes the mail to procmail correctly, but

procmail as a content_filter with dovecot
I am using Mac OS X Server. OS X Server uses postfix with dovecot set as mail_transport. I want to add procmail to the mix. I cannot use the (typical) mailbox_command = procmail -a "$EXTENSION" because mailbox_transport = dovecot overrides any mailbox_command parameter and it is NOT Possible to change, remove, or otherwise vary the mailbox_transport on OS X server. I'm

new user questions
Greetings; Trying to follow along with the wiki2 setup instructions and thought I'd hit a snag with the first "send me a mail" snippet as it took several minutes to arrive, so I assume that somehow procmail was involved in the delivery and my procmail runs mail thought a whole bunch of checks before finally handing it off to a mailfile as /var/mail/gene. Then the next script

Postfix+maildrop+deliver?
Hello, I currently use procmail without the deliver LDA but would like to switch to using deliver. I also would like to get away from procmail for various reasons. Otherwise I could use the procmail-patch from http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2006-July/014656.html AFAICS. I don't want to use sieve because it's too limited and can't see a similar patch like the one for

unable to send mails via postfix/dovecot SASL
Hello, I have a freshly setup postfix/dovecot mail server (after a server upgrade I decided to change my sendmail/popper conf to something more modern :) It mostly works, there is no problem in sending/receiving mails in local network, both using text clients like mutt or pine dealing with the incoming/outcoming mail directly. Also dovecot works fine with SSL authentication from the outside
