copying a folder removes the 'hidden' attribute
I have extended attributes enable in the file system so the 'hidden' and other attributes should be saved as an extended attribute. When connecting to the share from a Windows computer, if I copy a FILE then the new file stays hidden, but if I copy a FOLDER then the new folder is NOT hidden. I tried this on a Windows file server and it does preserve the 'hidden' attribute, which

krb5.conf in /var/lib/samba/smb_krb5 very different from original
Hi all ! I have some problems browsing a samba share from a Canon ImageRunner printer. It tries to write to a share located on a samba server, configured to authenticate users against a windows 2003 Active directory. Samba version 3.2.6 is running on opensuse 11.1. After a lot of search, I tought that maybe it did not support the encryption type requested by my Samba server, so I checked my

HELP!!! Problems with Hidden dot files
Hi all, I am having a real bizarre problem with Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris 8. I have set up the smb.conf to share all user's home folders, and want to ensure that all dot files are visible. The problem I am having is that the dot files all appear except for one specific one (which happens to be the exact file that is needed!). I can see it when I telnet, but not using Samba. The dot file is a

Restrict access to users home drives
Hi, is it possible to hide/restrict access to the home drives of our samba users when accessing them directly via netbios address? I have set up the home folders in ADUC. They are all mapped to drive H: and users have full access to their drive. The problem is, that others users also have access (accept write) to other users folders when opening the domain shares via \\<netbios

ACL not set from Microsoft
Hi. We set up a samba domain with two DC ver. 4.7.3 and a file server ver. 4.7.1. Currently we have a problem setting ACLs from a Microsoft client. The filesystem is na ext4 with the options /rw,acl,user_xattr,usrquota,grpquota./ This is the share configuration:/ /

Hidden folder when using Windows client
Hi, We have folder PDL012 which behaves as though it is hidden for Windows clients only, not Linux clients, in 1 folder on 1 samba server only. Tried increasing the debugging level but didn't quite understand the ouput. The folder PDL012 does not appear in the logging when connecting from Windows client. Nothing related to hiding files is set in smb.conf, therefore defaults to off.

"dos filemode" parameter ineffective?
According to the smb.conf man page, the "dos filemode" parameter will allow a user who is not the owner of a file to affect permissions changes on a file or folder provided he has write access to that object. This does not appear to be the case. Users with write access via user or group ACEs receive an "Access denied" error when attempting to make ACL changes via windows,

delayed write files errors
Hello, First of all : Happy New Year to you all :-) I need your help for a problem. I've 2 servers on CentOS 7: a Samba DC+AD and a Samba Files Sharing. In the Samba file sharing server, all data is store in a RAID Disk partition wich is mounted in /data/ (fstab : UUID=a47ea879-7072-4e8f-a668-3f5a86e58ef2 /data ext4 defaults,user_xattr,acl,barrier=1?? ?1 2).
