Sernet repository
Hi All, If you've using yum and have added ftp.sernet...... to your yum.repos.d the paths have changed. The documentation on the Samba site is no longer accurate,I'm hoping someone will update this once I mention it? This is my smb.conf (well, only the most important parts): [global] workgroup = FOOBAR server string = My Server map to guest = Bad User preferred master = No local master = No domain master = No dns proxy = No [on3] comment = Audio-Video-Imports path

RE: Fox Pro DBF open problems Solved.....FOLLOW UP
Hi List, I wanted to provide the solution that proved to fix this problem. On this particular server I observed we had consumed all memory resources and were using a decent sized swap file. After installing more RAM the problem & symptoms have disappeared. FINALLY I have happy users. L. Kipp From: wikked1@hotmail.com To: samba@lists.samba.org Subject: Fox Pro DBF open problems Date:

Continual Problems with "File system does not support long filenames"
When trying to create a file or folder on a samba 3.0.28-0.el4.9 share from a Windows 2003 R2 server, I continually receive an error message stating that the target filesystem does not support long filenames. I have another samba 3.0.28-0.el4.9 server where this does not happen. What causes this? Here's the smb.conf from the "bad" server. It's pretty much the same as the

Chronic Problems with "File system does not support long filenames"
When trying to create a file or folder on a samba share (3.0.28-0.el4.9) from a Windows 2003 R2 server, I occasionally receive an error message stating that the target filesystem does not support long filenames. This happens even if object name follows 8.3 naming conventions. It does not *always* happen. Also, I have another samba 3.0.28-0.el4.9 server where this does not happen at all. What

Problems with one thread excessive CPU usage.
Good morning. I'm having some problems with one thread of samba, taking excessive CPU usage. This is one single thread, that i can kill with 'kill -9 pid', and the server will keep other connections. This thread will severely slow down the server, and clients notify me within minutes of this happening. In essense the server becomes unuseable, because it's too slow. This is

Problem with dc-nics 10,11
Hi, I have a little problem with dc10, dc11. I use three quad dc cards, so far from dc0 up to dc8 with no problems. All (dc0 to dc11) are displayed correctly with pciconf and with ifconfig. The trouble is with dc10 and dc11 that they don't send any data out and also don't react to arp requests etc. - at least using tcpdump won't show anything coming in or going out. Monitoring from

NTFS Attributes
Hi There, Debian squeeze, samba 3.3.3-1 I am currently trying to use a samba partition to backup windows machines to, and am always warned that the destination does not support NTFS attributes, hidden attributes and system attributes. Are there any config options to enable these in samba? or does samba not support mapping these to something on the linux side? Any help or links to documentation

SUSE Patches
Hello all, I am running SLES9 with the latest kernel patches (2.6.5-7.282-bigsmp) and ocfs2 version (1.2.1-SLES), I was wondering if anyone had any info on if the latest ocfs2 will be included in SLES anytime soon. help w/ Powerware Prestige 9
Hi, I've got a Powerware Prestige 9 1kVA UPS that seems to not be working with nut. Mount DVD-RAM - device entry missing
Hi, whenever I want to mount a DVD-RAM, I have a little problem because the corresponding device entry (eg cd0a, acd0a) does not exist. This will be created after trying to mount /dev/cd0 instead of /dev/cd0a, but I am not sure if this is the correct behaviour ;-) # ls /dev/acd* /dev/acd0 /dev/acd1 # mount /dev/acd0 /home/hk/mnt/ mount: /dev/acd0 on /usr/home/hk/mnt: incorrect super
