Pre-3.023d-Bug in ACL-handling reappears in 3.026a
# wbinfo -Y S-1-5-11 Could not convert sid S-1-5-11 to gid # wbinfo -Y S-1-5-13 Could not convert sid S-1-5-13 to gid (S-1-5-11 are the Authenticated Users, S-1-5-13 are the Terminal Server Users.) This bug was finally solved in release 3.023d. Now it is back again. How can I get this working? I'm using idmap/tdb - would another idmap-module solve this issue? The winbind log looks like

idmap_ad and multiple domians
Has anyone else gotten samba functioning with idmap_ad and multiple domains? In our environment we have a domain with two child domains. There is one child domain for students, and another for faculty staff. Our servers are joined to the student domain, but need to be able to enumerate users in the staff domain. When attempting to lookup a user (wbinfo -i 'NAU\car3') that only exists

idmap uid allocation problem
Hi, we've had a machine happily authenticating to an ADS domain for about a year now, and it's recently stopped working (possibly due to changes in the domain or a samba upgrade, unfortunately I'm not sure). We're using an ldap idmap backend running on the local machine. Now though, new domain users can't log in. Running "wbinfo -i newuser" returns an error.

idmap_nss: Default domain not being used
I have an existing PDC which I am attempting to move across to a new server. On the new server, I'm having trouble with idmap (using an LDAP backend) and trusted domains. The smb.conf file is the same on both servers. My idmap & winbind parameters are as follows: ldap idmap suffix = ou=idmap idmap backend = ldap:ldap://127.0.0.1 idmap uid = 10000-29000 idmap gid = 10000-29000 winbind

InterDomain Trust Issue; Active directory domain does not return users and groups
I have created a two way Interdomain Trust between a Samba 3.21 Domain and a Windows 2003 Server Domain. I am able to log into the Active Directory domain with my Samba users and I am able to access shares set up in the AD Domain. However, when I attempt to log into the samba domain with a user from the Windows 2003 domain, I get an error saying the username/password is not correct.  From the

Winbind-Problem Samba 3.2.8 on AIX 5.3.9
Hi everyone, On a newly installed AIX-LPAR (oslevel 5.3.9) we added the current samba version 3.2.8. Installation and configuration did not reveal any problem. The problems show about 5 Minutes after services startup. After starting the samba services the winbind daemon uses lots of CPU time and memory. Wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work after initial startup. We cannot connect to any share on the

Winbind not working on Ubuntu 18.04 Samba 4.8.0 File Sever
Good Morning, Ive been trying to test Samba AD on Ubuntu 18.04 using samba version 4.8.0  The DC seems to be working fine all tests have passed.  I was able to connect Win7 RSAT, a Ubuntu workstation and a File server.  My problem is the file server will not give response to 'sudo getent passwd' with or with out username or DOMAIN\username. Everything else works as far as I can tell.

Getting users and groups through winbind on FreeBSD
Hi We have a few Linux samba servers that authenticate against our Active Directory domain (Small Business Server 2000). I've added a couple of disks to a FreeBSD 6.1 server in our office and I'm trying to achieve the same but not having much luck. I'm new to all this... I'm not our network admin, but he is BSD-phobic so I thought it was safer to do it myself.

3.0.25 Winbind high CPU usage
I just upgraded from 3.0.23d to 3.0.25 and I'm noticing that winbind is chewing up a lot of CPU usage. There are always 2 winbindd processes and one uses about 80% cpu and the other use 15% cpu. When I run a tcpdump and look at the traffic going to/from the domain controller winbindd is connected to, there is a constant flow of traffic. Here is the winbind setup from my smb.conf file:

Problems resolving most users with winbind and AD/SFU
Hello all, I'm having a problem with Winbind resolving some users from AD on a W2KSP4 server running SFU 3.5 [8.0.1969.1]. All users and groups in the AD domain have been assigned UIDs and GIDs via SFU. The Linux fileserver is running CentOS 5.3 with Samba 3.0.33-3.7.el5. The fileserver has been joined to the domain using authconfig with proper modifications made to nsswitch and pam.

Winbindd can't convert between SIDs and uid/gid
Samba 3.5.8 on OpenSolaris (SunOS 5.11) Intel platform; gcc 4.2.3; built with "configure --with-winbind --with-krb5 --with-ldap --with-ads" Samba is joined to our Windows-2008 AD domain. Pretty much everything works, except that winbindd can't convert between SIDs and uid/gid: 1. wbinfo -r WIN\\lanz (Returns nothing -- no output) First I obtain my SID from "wbinfo -n

File sharing is ok, but new ADS user validation is not ok
We have Samba 3.2.4 on two SLES 10 (one is SP1, the other SP2 64bit) machines. Both are member servers in our ADS, which was over the past month given some additional DCs, new IPs for all DCs, and upgraded to Windows 2008 (from win2003). The krb5.conf and nsswitch.conf files on the two machines are identical; the smb.conf files are *nearly* identical in their common section; the filewall rules

samba 3.5.6 authentication with AD 2008
Hi guys, I have installed samba with AD authentication. Ntlm_auth is working without any issue with the domain. But if I connect using my windows pc, to the samba share, it gives following error. Wbinfo -u / wbinfo -g giving the correct output. And ntlm_auth also working without any issue. If I try to connect from my windows PC to the samba share it gives following error. [2010/12/01
