acl_xattr and acl_tdb does not work
Hi, i have a running samba+ctdb installation with samba as a domain-member. everything works but the acl's. The users want to be able to set permissions on the share. glusterfs does not support extended acls, so i am using acl_xattr. xattr is installed and i can manually set attributes using setfattr on the shared-directory. if i try to set the permissions using a winxp client i'll get a

Samba CTDB clustering panic
Hi all, I'm setting up a clustered environment on CentOS 7.6.1810 with Samba 4.8.3-6.el7_6 and the corresponding ctdb package. I'm using FreeIPA 4.6.4 as my auth backend. Currently I'm running into this bug https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13465 however I would assume that it is fixed in the latest release (dated 29July 2019). It crashed once CTDB runs testparm to check the

can't resolve NETBios names
My LAN has a single linux/samba server as a PDC/file server, and several windows workstations. The workstations get their IP addresses from a Linksys cable router DHCP server. I can't get the linux machine to resolve the NETBios names of the windows machines. >From the Linux machine I can see the Internet through the DSL router, I can ping the windows machines by IP address, but

Error: Access to the resource \\netbiosname has been disallowed?
Hey all, I have a samba server running 3.0.10 and I am getting a weird response from PC (XP and 2K) clients. The PCs are joined to the domain as is the samba server. When any PCs try to connect using the netbios name or IP I get the error: Access to the resource \\netbiosname has been disallowed. If I unjoin the PCs from the ADS domain, they can connect fine. I see no kerberos errors and

CTDB starting statd without -n gfs -H /etc/ctdb/statd-callout
Hello, First and foremost, thanks *very* much for ctdb. It's a joy to use after banging around with other HA solutions. We're planning to use it to export Samba and NFS shares throughout campus. I'm having one problem with the NFS part though. When ctdbd first starts statd (we're using CTDB_MANAGES_NFS=yes), it does so without appending the stuff in the STATD_HOSTNAME variable

Updating from 4.1 + CTDB to 4.2/CTDB?
Dear list, We are about to upgrade to Samba 4.2.9 from sernet-samba 4.1.6 + CTDB 1.0.114.7 running on top of GPFS. My understanding is that as of 4.2, CTDB is now part of Samba. So does this mean we need to uninstall all of our sernet-samba and ctdb RPMs (we are on CentOS 6), then install the sernet-samba 4.2.9 rpms and reconfigure everything for CTDB? For those who have done this, how

problem with cached netbios name of wins server
fc2, samba 3.0.9 The samba server is PDC. Temporarily, the server was dhcp, which gave it the IP 192.168.1.64 we then set it to static 192.168.1.150, which is what we want. however, the different windows clients, on and off, on ping and such, resolve INTRANET, the netbios name of the pdc, to 192.168.1.64 still, despite me removing wins.dat. I even tried the following suggestion, to no avail

CTDB: some problems about disconnecting the private network of ctdb leader nodes
My ctdb version is 4.17.7 Hello, everyone. My ctdb cluster configuration is correct and the cluster is healthy before operation. My cluster has three nodes, namely host-192-168-34-164, host-192-168-34-165, and host-192-168-34-166. And the node host-192-168-34-164 is the leader before operation. Question about mount.cifs and smbclient
Hi! I have a problem for a few weeks, and can't figure out what could be the problem. The client computer runs RHEL 5.2 (arch: x64_64); the smb server is unknown for us. I'm sorry, that I can't provide any info (usernames, servernames, IPs, etc), they are masked to look like variables. But they are correct as far as i am concerned. When I try to mount it with mount.cifs (.smbfs

How to smbmount a share on a domain
I'm running samba 2.2.5 on a RedHat 8 box. I need to mount a share from a PC that is on a domain that the linux box is not a part of. Normally with another PC you would specify your username as DOMAIN\user, how do I do this with smbmount? I've looked at the documentation, google, etc. I can't find anything. Is this even possible? Here's what I've tried: smbmount //dd192/PM

Hi everybody, I just updated my ctdb node from Samba version 4.9.4-SerNet-Debian-11.stretch to Samba version 4.9.8-SerNet-Debian-13.stretch. After restarting the sernet-samba-ctdbd service the node doesn't come back and remains in state "UNHEALTHY".
