Last free cwRsync installers, anyone have?
I guess cwRsync is now a paid package. It looks like the last no-charge edition was 4.2. I see BackupAssist.com has 4.1 Server available on their site: https://www.backupassist.com/rsync/ I'd like to find both the Server and Client to 4.2 or 4.1, clean (safe) copies. Any ideas where I can find these installers? -- View this message in context:

Fwd: rsync on OSX for transferring files using FAT32
Hi, Which version of Mac OS X are you running? If you are on Mac OS 10.5.x then I can only suggest that you try either formating the drive to HFS + or creating a disk image with an HFS+ file system. If you are running Mac OS 10.4.x then ensure that that ACL support is enabled on the drive. The following URL contains information on how to check and enable ACL support :

Fwd: Re: cwRsync got killed...
A bit late, but someone (anonymous) provided a link to download. the md5 is correct, it matches the last sourceforge state. And the md5 and sha256 mentioned at https://www.itefix.no/i2/node/12862 - before he gave up the project. MD5 c787dfa854775793d1a1b5c3502b57b5 sha256 5abeec588e937bd749456ddb347e4116b0f8407e15f412281fc64c763d1de62d For obvious reasons you should check the md5 / sha256 after

Can the rsync password be automated?
Is there a way to automate the rsync password or maybe disable? I am currently running rsync from a Windows command prompt and would like to run it from a .bat file. I have read through the config man pages but not sure if my ssh_config file is even being used. I tried passwordauthentication = no but it still asked for password. I have seen a option for --password-file= but I believe this does not

Huge directory tree: Get files to sync via tools like sysdig
As Ben mentioned, ZFS snapshots is one possible approach. Another approach is to have a faster storage system. I have seen considerable speed improvements with rsync on similar data sets by say upgrading the storage sub system. -------------------------------------------------------------------- This email is protected by LBackup, an open source backup solution http://www.lbackup.org

Password Option for Windows OpenSSH

Is this the latest version for windows? >From the archive list I gather that OpenSSH will not provide a password option while invoking ssh commands, is this true? or will this be included in the future releases? --progress (without file names)
I am wondering if there is an option which is similar to --progress that will not display the file names. A percentage indicator would be fine. There is some related discussion at the following URL : http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2004-March/008998.html Any replies regarding ways to achieve this kind of output are welcomed. cwRsync got killed...
Last cwrsync was 4.1.0, current is 4.2.0. It was avail on sourceforge. Itefix.no decided "we want money for coding and support" - that itself is not wrong. Though _I_ never needed any rsync help on neither linux and windows (including mixed) scenarios. But they killed their sourceforge downloads, all, including past versions of cwrsync, including source. The 4.2.0 client is still

Verifying backups
Just chiming in slightly off topic. As a first step if you are going to be backing up files to some media with a computer it would be a really good idea to ensure, that the hardware being used is not faulty. I am not saying that your hardware is faulty. However, it would be worth checking this somehow. Check the drive media for bad blocks, check that all the cables are working well. Ensure the

cwrsync and link-dest option
Hello, In a small environment I have to backup two servers, an Ubuntu 9.10 and a Windows Server 2008 machine. My Backuphost is a Ubuntu 9.10 machine as well. I installed rsync on both Ubuntu hosts from repository (3.0.6) and cwrsync from http://www.itefix.no/i2/node/10650 (3.0.7). Then I wrote some Bash-Scripts which executes rsync every week like that: BACKUPDIR=/var/backup rsync -v -a

some files vanished before they could be transferred
Hi, I am getting "rsync warning: some files vanished before they could be transferred (code 24) at main.c(1039) [sender=3.0.6]" now frequently but while using rsync version 2.6, I used to get it rarely. Any idea would be helpful on why rsync 3.0.6 is throwing this warning frequently. Jignesh. -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed

how to keep user/group information when rsyncing to windows for restoring back to
I am guessing that you would like to use rsync to create a bootable backup. It may also be worth while spending some time looking at CloneZilla or even dd? Dd is a really great tool. You know a copy of the device is bit for bit. You can then use rsync to make incremental copies of these directories which regularly change. In this situation you can restore the machine and then
