CIFS hang
I have a Proliant running Red Hat with the 2.6.9-5.ELsmp kernel. We have a Windows 2000 Server who's secondary disc drive is mounted on the Linux box via CIFS using the following command: /sbin/mount.cifs //w2000/docs /var/www/documents -o dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0444,gid=100,uid=501,username=winuser,password=winpass From time to time, for whatever reason, the Windows 2000 Server

" Failed to connect to IPC$ share on localhost" when running the "net rpc group add" command.
Probably an easy one for most of you: I'm trying to create nested groups on my Samba server. When running "net rpc group add" I am prompted for my root password and receive the error: "Failed to connect to IPC$ share on localhost". When I use my other login I receive: # net rpc group add Admins -L -U bill Enter bill's password: Failed to add alias 'Admins'

"Close_remove_share_mode: Could not get share mode lock for file..."
Hey folks... I'm using the Redhat Samba package (samba-3.0.33-3.15.el5_4.1) and I'm having a problem with one specific user. When she opens a project for her program, there are several shape files which need to open. Unfortunately, performance is EXTREMELY slow for her; everyone else who accesses the project can open it up quickly and normally. A tail of /var/log/samba/<IP

By function
Hello all! I have a data frame with nine variables and 293 cases. (attached goes the csv file). I need to calculate a index using the sum of one variable (N) divided by the length of other variable (Fisherman), but for each day (Date). I tried to use that codes: by (cpue, cpue$Date, function (x) sum (cpue$N)/length(cpue$Fisherman)) tapply (cpue$Data, cpue$Data, function (x) {sum

Nested groups are completely missing
All of my nested groups are missing after building Samba 3.3.3. For example, using the local "Administrators" group with Domain\Domain Admins was not built by default, nor was the local "Users" group that would normally have "Domain Users" in it. Aren't these supposed to be visible after I join the server to the domain? They appear to be missing, at least when I

Inheritance Question
Hi, My application has a table of People that has information about them, and I want to have a subset of those people as Users - people that can login to the application. What is the best way to do this? Add columns to People that only Users would use? I''ve read the threads on single table inheritance, but it seemed a little bit wasteful: 10,000 people vs 50 users For those more

Winbind - how to map ADS group to Unix group
I am running 3.0.10-1.4E on RHEL4. The machine is a ADS member server. I would like to statically map the ADS group "Domain Admins" to the built in "wheel" group so all members of "Domain Admins" are in the "wheel" group. I have looked at the username map option, but I don't want a group of users mapped to a UID (this would defeat what I am trying to

adding users to group with net rpc
section 13.3.2 of the HOWTO shows that i can add a user to a group with the following command: root# net rpc group addmem "MIDEARTH\Engineers" ajt -Uroot when i execute this command (replaced with my server specific values, of course), i get a NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER error. i can verify that my user DOES exist and that he belongs to the posix group account. i can also verify that the

use variable in for loop to name output files
Hi, This question should be simple to answer. I am a new R user. I have a data.frame called appended. I would like to break it into 7 smaller datasets based on the value of a categorical variable dp (which has values 1:7). I would like to name the smaller datasets set1, set2, set3,....,set7. I don't know how to refer to the variable in the for loop, when naming the output datasets. In STATA

Question about --files-from= and folder structure
I'm writing a script to sync some mp3 files. Due to a limitation in the number of destination files that can be read from my thumb drive, I'm not looking to preserve the original file structure (actually, I'm looking to sync *only the files* to the new destination directory). The source files are all subfolders under /backup/Music: ./Adrian Legg/Mrs. Crowe's Blue Waltz/Paddy

Group Nesting
Hey all, Is there a comprehensive how-to on the new group nesting features? I've found a little bit of info, but nothing that paints a clear picture of the process. If anyone has any insight or can point me to a tutorial it would be much appreciated. I created the local groups and mapped them. Wbinfo and getent all seem to be working. I've been trying to do the 'net rpc group addmem

Rsync an offline database?
Is rsync a good way to make a valid copy of offline database files (TSM, in this case) from one xfs filesystem to another? If so, which options should I use? Once again, the database services would be shut down, so the database would be offline.
