stale timestamp hell
I've been using a Windoze based programming editor (Slickedit) across samba shares for years without any problems (most recently with FC5). I've just started using Ubuntu and I'm now having a problem with timestamps lagging file writes. The net result is my editor almost always thinks another program has modified the file. Today I built and installed samba 3.3.3. from sources and it

SlickEdit 2009 With Darwine, MAC OS X 10
Hi, I'm trying to get the latest version of darwine working with slickedit on my mac os x box. Everything is using the latest version. When I try to run my application I get this error: > wine: created the configuration directory '/Users/GMan/.wine' > err:module:DelayLoadFailureHook failed to delay load setupapi.dll.InstallHinfSectionW > wine: Call from 0x7b830f70 to

Ruby/Rails TextMate macros
Could someone kindly send me a copy of the TextMate macros that pertain to Ruby and Rails? I am assuming they are stored in or can be exported to some kind of plain text file... Sadly I am not yet able to make the leap from Linux (and Windows) to a Mac and I am using Slickedit, which has *zero* built in support for Ruby/Rails. I can add macros and code templates so I thought it might be

DOS to UNIX Conversion
On 17 May 99, Axel Neumann <amn@cromemco.com> had questions about DOS to UNIX Conversion: > It seems that a lot of people hate Windoze in such a way that they only > accept solutions that are not coming from M$. Maybe that's because the M$ "solutions" are crap, and much better alternatives already exist. > If you want to view UNIX text files correctly on a W9x

[LLVMdev] Develop on trunk.
All sounds good to me. I actually did try to follow the Python style when I used the ^^^ thingies for the questions (they're called subsubsections). 4. I'm not sure exactly how to markup the questions. The sphinx FAQ ( > http://sphinx.pocoo.org/faq.html) marks it up as a definition list > (ctrl-f "definition list" http://sphinx.pocoo.org/rest.html). Persistent locked files & Win95
I often find with Samba v2.0.3 that files accessed via Win95 (OSR2) stay locked forever after exiting the application that used them. I've got an application called Visual SlickEdit (VSE), which is installed on a shared drive. The drive is an exported Samba share from my RedHat v5.2 (kernel v2.2.5) server. Both the Win32 and OS/2 versions of VSE are installed beneath the same subdirectory

Strange locking behaviour upsets Apache
We have a server which runs Samba and Apache. Web developers edit their files (via Windows mapped drives) from Windows XP SP2. These files are typically CGI files and the developers' routine is: while (web page not quite right) { 1. Edit file 2. Save 3. Click Reload on web browser 4. Check results } They go around that loop many times during a typical development run.

General CentOS 5.1 (or Gnome) instability?
I've been a big fan of CentOS for a while, and didn't have many issues with CentOS 4.X over the past few years. However, since moving to CentOS 5.1 a few weeks ago, I have received more problem reports from my users than in the last year and a half on CentOS 4.X. I've previously reported the problem with gnome-terminal crashing (and since there is a single gnome-terminal

W2KSP2 Profile and 2.2.2 hell...
I recently got suckered into upgrading to SP2 by Microsoft's auto update program. Since this broke profiles I upgraded to 2.2.2. In the process of upgrading I set up the Profiles share and tried to move my profile into it. Unfortunately W2K insisted on trying to log in with the profile still in my home directory where nt acl support was not disabled. In an attempt to coerce it into looking

I'm in ADSI hell...
Folks, I am in the process of fighting my way through my first foray into ADSI phones. I have a very nice Aastra 480 from Sayson, purchased through Cylogistics. Very nice phone. However, my experience in configuring ADSI has been pure pain so far, and it's not all working yet... 1) The locking mechanism for these ADSI phones is... baroque? Arcane? Perhaps there is a reason why you would

Now, I call in my IVR, and after navigating in menus when I get dialtone for dialing extension, Sound is choppy and I get bunch of messagess: -- Silence suppression is disabled (option_silence_suppression=0 chan->timingfd=30) -- Silence suppression is disabled (option_silence_suppression=0 chan->timingfd=30) -- Silence
