Hi,
i had the same problem.
The Solution was to check the permissions on NC for Enterprise Read-only domain controllers group.
Here some additional information: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2022387/troubleshooting-ad-replication-error-8453-replication-access-was-denied. Look at "Fix Invalid Default Security Descriptors"

Failed to join domain: failed to find DC for domain...
Did you turn off the Firewall ?
- I did turn it off on both.
It looks like something is getting in the way, either that or something
is set up incorrectly.
I know you said that you are using Debian, but what version and what
version of Samba ?
- Debian 12. Samba = 4.17.10-Debian
Are you using Bind9 on the DC or the internal dns server ?
- I am using internal dns server but I did install bind9

Failed to join domain: failed to find DC for administrator@XYZ
Hello everyone
I had samba 4.1 working as a member server to a windows 2012 AD in a
test environment for a while now until I had to re-install the windows
server from scratch. I have the new AD setup with the same NETBIOS name
but now I have problems re-joining the samba box to the new AD. It looks
like a DNS issue but I am unable to understand why. After the
ire-install, I got a new Kerberos

I did specify domain out of frustration I think. More test as per your inputs: (net ads join fails)

Joining ADS: unodocumented error
Hi everyone,
I am trying to set up a file server on Linux for Windows XP boxes in a
Windows Server 2003 environment. I followed an excellent tutorial on
Samba and ADS, which I recommend to all newbies like myself:
http://www.enterprisenetworkingplanet.com/netos/article.php/3487081.
Kerberos authentication seems to succeed, and apparently there is
nothing wrong with my smb.conf file, yet when

How to query for REALM or WORKGROUP before join?
Folks:
samba-common-3.5.8-75.fc13.x86_64
samba-winbind-clients-3.5.8-75.fc13.x86_64
samba-winbind-3.5.8-75.fc13.x86_64
samba-client-3.5.8-75.fc13.x86_64
If I try to join without setting the appropriate WORKGROUP I see:
Failed to join domain: Invalid configuration ("workgroup" set to
'WORKGROUP', should be 'FOOBAR') and configuration modification was not

Joining Ubuntu Server to Domain - "kinit succeeded but ads_sasl_spnego_gensec_bind failed"
I'm currently attempting to join an Ubuntu server to an AD domain,
eventually with the intention of allowing Windows-based domain members to
access a Samba share using their AD credentials. (As specified in the Wiki
article "Setting Up Samba as a Domain Member." The DC is running on Windows
(not Samba) and has DHCP/DNS running on a separate Linux server (using
BIND). The DC

4.05 stable - domain join attempt failing with "NO DNS zone information found in source domain, not replicating DNS", followed by LDAP error 50
I've been trying to join Samba 4.05 stable to an existing Windows 2000
domain but keep getting an LDAP error 50 - LDAP_INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_RIGHTS
despite attempting to joining with the Windows administrator account. I did
a capture of the network traffic generated by the failure for more
information on what's going on and discovered the following:
