Disaster recovery option for file server
Greetings -
I have not been a long time follower of this list, but I have scanned
through the last year or so of archives, after not finding much from google
searches. I am hoping someone here can inform me if what I want to do is
feasible, and give me some general guidance to follow so that I can continue
my research and complete this task.

CentOS 7 install software Raid on large drives error
Greetings -
I am trying to install CentOS 7 into a new Dell Precision 3610. I have two
3 TB drives that I want to setup in software RAID1. I followed the guide
here for my install as it looked fairly detailed and complete
(http://www.ictdude.com/howto/install-centos-7-software-raid-lvm/). I only
changed the size of the partitions from what is described, but ended up with
the disk

Speed up rsync ,cwRsync and replay changes against a file
Hi guys,
I recently installed and setup cwRsync on a Windows 2000 Server -
http://www.itefix.no/cwrsync/ -, and I was very impressed. I just
followed the instructions on the website and got it working.
I am using it to mirror 30Gb's of mailboxes everynight (only grabbing
the changes to each file), from a Windows 2000 box to a Linux box (RH9).
The nightly replication takes approximately 8

Advice on CentOS 7, software raid 1, lvm, 3 TB disks
Greetings -
I am preparing to order a new desktop system for work. In general the new
system will be a Dell Precision T3610 with two 3 TB drives. I plan on
installing CentOS 7 as a KVM host, with virtual machines for Win 7 Pro and
Linux Mint. I am looking for some advice or a good how-to on configuring
software raid on the two drives, then using LVM for the host and virtual
machines. I

Selecting raw logical volumes during guest VM creation
Greetings -
I have stepped through the first guest OS installation (a testing VM) on my
new server and have a technical question that I hope someone might be able
to help me with. I have exhausted my google search ability and have not
been able to find the details I am looking for. In general the question I
am trying to answer is how to select and use multiple raw logical volumes

cwrsync client log format ??
We were trying to introduce a better client side log format so that we could
get timestamps and module names etc. In the rsync documentation
it looks like you can use --log-format for the client ... there is even a
sentence saying that this format would not interfere with the rsybc daemons
format. We are using cwrsync and when we try and add
--log-format="%o %h [%a] %m (%u) %f %l" The

Incoming rsync connection attempts
Greetings -
In my logwatch report this morning I noticed reference to an attempt to
connect to rsync from an external IP address. It doesn't appear that
the connection was successful based on correlating information between
/var/log/secure and /var/log/messages. But I am looking for some
suggestions for implementing more preventative measures, if necessary.
The log information from

User accounts management for small office
Greetings -
This may be a little off-topic here so if someone wants to point me to a
more appropriate mailing list I would appreciate it.
I administer the network for my small company and am preparing to install a
new server in the next month or so. It will be running CentOS 6 and
function primarily as a Samba file server to 10 Windows workstations (XP,
Vista, 7). It will also host our

Help understanding rsync and cwrsync
Hi all, we are just beginning to dive into rsync. I have limited
experience with just playing around with the examples and reading all
the docs that I can. I just read an interesting post from a developer
that mentions cwrsync is a minimalistic rsync and thus things like
permissions are not transfered, the post was from 2004. Here are my
questions

Where to download the rsync binaries for Windows but NOT the cwrsync version?
When I go to page
http://rsync.samba.org/download.html
then there is no download of the windows binaries except the cwRsync version.
However there must be such a pure-rsync binary version for Windows because I have already an old, outdated rsync.exe v3.0.4
So is there elsewhere a download site for the newest rsync for windows?

CentOS 7 grub.cfg missing on new install
Greetings -
The short story is that got my new install completed with the partitioning I
wanted and using software raid, but after a reboot I ended up with a grub
prompt, and do not appear to have a grub.cfg file. So here is a little
history of how I got here, because I know in order for anyone to help me
they would subsequently ask for this information. So this post is a little
long, but

Dual boot Win98 Centos sharing files
Greetings -
I have searched the mailing list archives and my Samba 3 book and have not
seen this issue addressed anywhere. My home desktop box has Win98 installed
on a 20 GB drive and Centos 4.4 on a 160 GB drive with a Grub menu for
selecting which OS to boot. I am wondering if it is theoretically possible
to share (read and write) files on the Linux drive when booted to Window,

cwRsync logs
Using cwRsync on Windows, is there any way to get the standard rsync
stats at the end? It does not look like '--stats' is an option for
cwRsync and verbose does not provide the stats.

cwRsync on windows
Hi folks,
It may be a very basic question for many people here but I have been
struggling with Windows commandline. My CentOS machines are running
perfectly fine.
Question:
I have installed cwRsync server on one of Windows 2003 and cwRsync
client on the other Windows 2003. What command should I run to connect
to the cwRsync server from the client? and how can I make sure that
cwRsync is even
