XDMCP
Dear SAMBA team:
I have a question about SAMBA
because I install red hat linux 6.2 server in our
server and it is in the NT LAN. I try to let other NT
machine log in to that linux server through Reflection
X. So I choose SAMBA. I would want to know that does
SAMBA support XDMCP ? Because Reflection X use
XDMCP broadcast and it can detect other servers on our
NT LAN. And

XDMCP - no GDM login, only gray screen with X
I'm having trouble getting the GDM login screen to show up when I
connect from a remote host. I'm using Xming on the local Windows
machine, but every time I connect to the remote server all I get is a
gray window with the X cursor. I have "Enable=true" in the [xdmcp]
section of /etc/gdm/custom.conf. IPtables is disabled. I've googled
around and read through the xdmcp page

Using LightDM as a headless XDMCP server without physical graphics card
Hi,
I'm currently testing the XDMCP functionality of LightDM which seems to
work flawless, however, there is one issue which I cannot resolve:
The machine I am using for my setup is a dedicated machine running some
VM's, these VM's don't have any graphics card associated and run
headless and the only form of command is via a web interface or SSH.
LightDM seems to use the

Help with XDMCP over SSH
I am trying to get XDMCP working over SSH on CentOS 4.4 from a windoze
box running Cygwin/Putty
I have set Enable=true in /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf restarted the X server,
logged in with Putty and X11 forwarding enabled. I then try to start the

I don't know if this is a bug or a limitation in ssh2 but I am unable to
get get an xdm (or gdm) login on my machine at home through an ssh

Should this be possible using ssh port forwarding?
Please reply to me at: rwk at americom.com

CentOS 6 and XDMCP
Hi all,
I am trying to use XDMCP from a Mac (OSX Lion, XQuartz) to an updated
CentOS 6 64Bit host.
I am tunneling through SSH, so I use XDMCP on the remote host locally
via Xnest like this:
> ssh -X -C -l $LOGINUSER $HOST -n "Xnest :1 -ac -geometry 1440x850
> -once -query localhost
I get a black screen without any login window or desktop background.
My /etc/gdm/custom.conf looks

Compiz 0.8 branched
I just branched for 0.8, since Danny told me there was no reason not to.
There are still some bugs to work out of course, but since development has
been quiet lately, I figure it's time to branch so that we can:
1. Eventually get to the next stable release
2. Allow people to work more freely on master
On my personal list of things I want to see working better before a 0.8
release, I have

single wineserver process on multiple session environment
is it possible to run only one wineserver process on multiple session?
i set up an ubuntu server as terminal server (using xdmcp and/or xrdp), so multiple user could run their own session on this server (remotely) from other linux or windows clients. there is one apps that run under wine.
but the number of wineserver process running is the same as the number of users logged in to this terminal

Winbind process hangs XDMCP logins on Solaris 8
Hello,
I compiled samba 3.0.21a on Solaris 8.
Everything seems to work fine except winbind.
When winbind runs, I successfully get answers for: getent passwd, group,
wbinfo -u or the like. I can sucessfully log on the server using telnet
and rlogin. The problem arise when I try to log on the server using
remote login from Solaris workstation or reflection-x from windows
clients. I get the

Can LightDM work with an existing X server socket?
Hi all,
I'm setting up an LXC container for Ubuntu 13.10 where the X server is
started in the host on vt6. The unix socket and authority file are
then mounted in the LXC container. I can start X sessions and
applications from the container but I can't get LightDM to use this
server.
I would really like to have the container's LightDM/Ubuntu greeter to
automatically start on this

Is it time to re-factor yet :^)
Or how to avoid the whirlwind.
Greetings everyone.
I observe the coding of lighdm is well under way and I'm thinking the
pressure to meet the releases of 11.11 is probably going to build without
bounds.
Is there time now to consider the inclusion of some of the more offbeat use
cases?
1: Headless(no monitor, keyboard, or monitor)
2: True headless(no video card) but Xvfb.
3: No X but only
