[SAGE] FreeBSD 4.4-REL to FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE upgrade problem.
Before reading below: I am considering a new install rather than an upgrade of our servers. However, now I just want to beat this problem. :) At 02:19 PM 7/8/2003 +0000, Phil Pennock wrote: >On 2003-07-08 at 14:09 +0000, Phil Pennock wrote: > > There was a fairly major update to the IDE disk device handlers which > > required new device nodes. Audio CD problem on laptop VGN-SZ61MN
Is there anyone out there who has installed FreeBSD on the above Sony laptop ? Both ''cat filename > /dev/dsp0.0'' or ''vlc cdda:///dev/acd0@1 are OK. If I run ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 play'', there is no sound. But the output of ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 status audio'' is alright. (same behaviour for cd0 instead of acd0) And the output

Boot hangs on v9 system at CD device probe
I sent a note about this a couple of weeks ago, but have not heard anything. I'm really getting a bit desperate. I have a system that I am trying to upgrade from 8.2 to 9.0. I have built it and installed the kernel, but it fails to boot. The boot freezes after probing for my hard drives during the probe of the CDROM. It just sits there, seemingly forever, though I have never waited longer

SETFEATURES SET TRANSFER MODE semaphore timeout on FreeBSD 6.0 RELEASE
Hi I have a newly installed FreeBSD 6.0 release machine on which I am getting the following error on the console: "ad4: req=0xc23bc258 SETFEATURES SET TRANSFER MODE semaphore timeout !! DANGER Will Robinson !!" This is generally associated with heightened disk activity, but it happens inevitably after a while (minutes or hours) if the machine is running. The atacontrol list shows:

What does invalidate is that he has no numbers! He just fired a few applications and counted the seconds, this is utterly pointless. No reference to how many times he ran, standard deviations,

[Fwd: Re: [Fwd: Re: Still ATAPICAM Lockup/Slowdown]]
Thomas, Have spoken to Soren, from my bootlog he believes that the problem is in atapicam causing the system to lock up. He is happy to answer some questions but doesnt have time to delve into atapicam himself. Did you author atapicam, I have seen your name on the sourcecode, can you help me further? Whats next? Thanks Adam. -------------- next part -------------- An embedded message was

The cdrom does: acd0: MODE_SENSE_BIG command timeout - resetting ata1: resetting devices .. done over and over. Finally I get to the screen "Probing devices, please

Mount DVD-RAM - device entry missing
Hi, whenever I want to mount a DVD-RAM, I have a little problem because the corresponding device entry (eg cd0a, acd0a) does not exist. This will be created after trying to mount /dev/cd0 instead of /dev/cd0a, but I am not sure if this is the correct behaviour ;-) # ls /dev/acd* /dev/acd0 /dev/acd1 # mount /dev/acd0 /home/hk/mnt/ mount: /dev/acd0 on /usr/home/hk/mnt: incorrect super

crash on 7.2-RC1 when inserting an empty DVD: supervisor write, page not present
Hi there, from time to time my PC panics when I insert an empty DVD or CD-R. The kernel locks up instantly after the DVD writer's tray is closed. It seems burning the first DVD isn't critical but inserting the second one seems susceptible. I use k3b as software, which polls the hardware while the tray is open, maybe it's something with hald. Don't know, just use this. I

Thanks for doing all this work. I have just sent it to experimental. I did some reviewing and diffing. I have some comments, or, at least, things I noticed. None of them were IMO blockers for experimental.

FreeBSD doesn't find my CD-RW and sometimes my DVD
Hi , I'm disperated I've recently installed FreeBSD 4.8 ,and all at the first look was ok , this was only a try in a small partition , and now I have decided to install it in a bigger partition , so I've downloaded the 5.1 ISO (to give it a try too) and I've tried to BURN it with "burncd" . Now, I've noticed that in the DEV directory there are the devices

How does UDMA mode get set?
Hi all, I have been tracking -STABLE on one of my home machines for a little while, now and noticed something the other day. I was given this system, and I have only run FreeBSD-STABLE on it. The motherboard is a Supermicro370SWD with an Intel 810 "Whitney" chipset (82810DC100 GMCH + 82801AA ICH). The docs say that there is support for UDMA66, but FreeBSD reports that the drive is

6.4-PRELEASE sporadically panicking with fatal trap 12
Hello, I'm running 6.4-PRELEASE, last built on 2008-10-05 with /usr/src updated on the same day. I had a panic that looks to me very similiar to the one described here (hence the subject): http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2008-September/045405.html What caught my curiosity is the message: Unread portion of the kernel message buffer: acd0: WARNING - TEST_UNIT_READY read

[LLVMdev] LLVM JIT
Hi folks! I am currently involved in project which uses LLVM JIT and I have a couple of questions for you: 1) According to http://llvm.org/Features.html LLVM JIT supports only X86 and PowerPC, but LLVM code generator supports ARM too. Are there any plans for JIT to make support also for ARM backend? 2) Could LLVM JIT collect some hot traces from overall code and execute it separately (after
