Whoo Hoo! I got a working Windows Build of wxRuby
I finally got a working native windows build of wxRuby (using a static build
of wxWindows so everything is in a single dll -- wxruby.so)!
Two things contributed to my success: 1) building wxWindows with the vc++
makefiles (instead of the vc++ projects), and 2) very careful attention to
compiler/linker flags specified in extconf.rb.
Kevin, I had to modify app.cpp, depend, extconf.rb, and wx.h. I

DatePickerCtrl uninitialized constant
I trying to make a Dialog that include a DatePickerCtrl on my gentoo
linux box.
I get the following error
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.0.2/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:478:in

My application use ActiveRecord, thats why the error is from

wxruby-swig 0.0.9
More progress on wxruby-swig. Nothing too exciting.
It now support 36 classes, compared to the (apparently) 139 supported by
wxRuby 0.3. A working version of the calendar sample is included. I made
several changes to the sample.
I have tentatively decided *not* to wrap the wxDateTime class, and
instead to automatically convert to/from Ruby''s own DateTime class.
My logic is that in

GotoIfTime problem - possible bug
Hi,
I'm currently doing some testing against asterisk 1.6.1.7-rc2 (keep meaning to upgrade) and am having a problem with the GotoIfTime dial plan function.
The asterisk book says that day of week field can include the ampersand (&) to combine multiple days / day ranges but this gives me an error.
For example mon&wed gives the error (in the asterisk console):

Windows Build - Down to Run Time Errors
I finally got a clean compile and link for wxRuby. Now I''m down to
deciphering runtime errors. Once again, I''m going to pick up on this
tomorrow, but I thought I''d post my console output tonight to see if anyone
has any thoughts before I tackle this tomorrow.
I''m running the same app "minimal.rb"

TextCtrl performance for large files
I''ve been trying to speed up my program, which uses a TextCtrl, for
large files by getting rid of code using line numbers. However, it
seems that just using the get_range method is slowing down my program
for large files. I don''t know whether I''m doing something wrong or
there''s a way to access the text without significant slowing in large
files. If anyone

0.0.38 tag and release
Hi
I tagged 0.0.38 and started a release on rubyforge. I''ll do the doc
packages & upload plus gems for OS X ppc and Linux; TIA for gems for
Windows and OS X Intel - please upload whenever convenient.
Once we have a set of binary gems, I suggest we do an announce to
wxruby-users and c.l.r, inc explaining this is still alpha, summarising
the new features, and that people should

wxruby and wxwidget-2.9.5 latest
is there a way to have wxwidget-2.9 working with ruby ? seems that the
latest wxwidget is better for use with mac osx...
so, there is many widget who are not been implemented in the last
version of wxruby... like wxFilePickerCtrl (and other).
Also, it seems like the wxruby project is dead since 2009. Is it right ?
So, do you know if someone seriously have intention to follow the
project or is it

Patch for wxRuby2
Ok so I made a lot of changes and the controls sample works pretty good now.
What I changed or added:
- Got all my modifications meshed into wxRuby2.
- Added constructors to wxIcon.h
- Changed Xrc.i to XmlResource.i and changed wxXrc to wxXmlResource
within the file.
I also had to change Xrc to XmlResource in rakewx.rb.
- For backwards compatability with wxRuby 0.6 I added the subclass methods

Compiling problem on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit
Hello,
I''m trying to compile wxruby for Ruby 1.9 on Ubuntu Karmic 64 bit, but I
can''t get it to work. I''ve already done this for the 32 bit version (on
another machine, of course), so I don''t see where''s the problem with
that. I thought, I had all neccessary libraries installed, but maybe you
know better... After compiling for a long time, rake fails

Blank DateTime versus Nil DateTime
Hi!
These days I have been having trouble with a test that tried to test
DateTime functionality. I have discovered that a NULL DateTime is
auto-type casted to NIL by Rails.
My problem here is that I have a field :datetime and I want to allow
NULL datetimes but not wrong datetimes. With this validation if deadline
is wrong or if is is blank it returns true. How I can accomplish this?

Time and DateTime default precision :day not :second ?
Hi all,
according to the docs, the default precision for the Ferret Time
to_s_lex function is :day. Should this not be :second?
This is the same on DateTime. (Same on Date too, but that seems ok)

datetime/date problems w/ Oracle
I am "script\generate scaffold"ing w/ Oracle. The CRUD controls for DATE
columns in _form.rhtml are generated as datetime_select, rather than
date_select . This is understandable, as Oracle uses a DATETIME data type
for DATE columns. I''m also not too bothered by the fact that I have to
manually replace "datetime_select" w/ "date_select" for all
