"Include" directive in ~/.ssh/config (reprise)
Hi, About a year and a half ago, Hank Leininger posted a plea to this list for the inclusion of an Include directive in OpenSSH's configuration file. Hank's suggestion is detailed and thorough enough IMHO, so instead of repeating it I'll link it here http://marc.info/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=118236823907002&w=2 . I'm also interested in this feature, and though my C

Extremely long creat64 latencies on higly
Thanks Michael. Here is my (slightly corrected) version of the script, after I''ve done a bit of investment in the dtrace manual (always knew it''s powerful, but it''s more than that...). While it appears to run, and when I tried lowering the limit I started getting results, I''d appreciate it if you could please explain the actions attached to the last few probes

Authenticating users from proprietary user databases
Hi, I work for a company which develops a rather complicated Linux-based grid-technology appliance. The appliance is made of several Linux hosts, exposing its functionality over a proprietary CLI-like protocol. This protocol currently works by running a proprietary client executable on a host, sending the command via TCP/IP to one of the appliance's hosts and receiving the response. The

Port forwarding feature suggestion: bind to port 0
Hi, Sometimes it's desirable to bind a port forward to port 0: especially when scripting port forwarding, and more especially so with the '-f -N' options. The version of OpenSSH bundled with OSX (4.7p1) accepts '-L 0:192.168.1.1:22', but only if ran as root (I guess this was more an accident than a feature). I saw that the current version (5.1p1) will decline such an options,

Unnamed error while trying to create a VM
Hi, I''ve a b81 server running for a while. I''ve done all sorts of Python related stuff on it (nothing amazing, mostly compiled python2.5 and iPython in /usr/local), and now am trying to use it with xVM to install Windows on a virtual machine in it. I''m having trouble creating the new machine, and I get a blank error response like so when I try to do it:

PCI/DSS compliance on CentOS
I have a client project to implement PCI/DSS compliance. The PCI/DSS auditor has stipulated that the web server, application middleware (tomcat), the db server have to be on different systems. In addition the auditor has also stipulated that there be a NTP server, a "patch" server, The Host OS on all of the above nodes will be CentOS 6.2. Below is a list of things that would be

aaf and stop words; query parser
I''ve been trying to implement acts_as_ferret in my latest project and ran into a snag. If I do a search for ''auditor state'' then the search works perfectly. If I include a stop word, as in ''auditor of state'', then I get no results. I''d prefer not to set stop words to nil and index everything. The solution, that I have yet to attempt, is to use

as.vector with mode="list" and POSIXct
I was trying to convert a vector of POSIXct into a list of POSIXct, However, I had a problem that I wanted to share with you. Works fine with, say, numeric: > v = c(1, 2, 3) > v [1] 1 2 3 > str(v) ?num [1:3] 1 2 3 > l = as.vector(v, mode="list") > l [[1]] [1] 1 [[2]] [1] 2 [[3]] [1] 3 > str(l) List of 3 ?$ : num 1 ?$ : num 2 ?$ : num 3 If you try it with POSIXct,

Inconsistent none cipher behavior
Using stock OpenSSH 4.7 I found different behavior when trying to specify the use of the 'none' cipher depending on the command line option nomenclature. enable none cipher
Hi, I was looking at the thread on the 'null' cipher and was wondering if you have done anything one it, if you need any help (or just encouragement ;)). I'm a radio experimenter (radio ham) and currently I'm using ssh illegally over the air, as I'm not legally allowed to encrypt sessions over the Radio Link. Being able to have strong authentication with no

"Cipher = none" doesn't seem to be working properly
I have a simple pair of nodes set up, connected wirelessly, with tincd 1.0.16 running in switch mode. Setting Cipher and Digest to "none", and Compression to 0, the bridge is still CPU-bound, with most of tincd's CPU time spent in libcrypto. I narrowed it down to this line in net_setup.c: myself->connection->outcipher = EVP_bf_ofb(); It looks as though all outgoing data is

patch adding none cipher/mac for ssh v2
Below is a patch that adds the ability to have a none cipher and mac for protocol version 2. By default, sshd will not allow these to be used; an admin will have to explicitly allow them in the Ciphers and MACs section of sshd_config. Additionally, the client will not use these unless explicitly instructed to by the user. The actual name of the cipher is 'none2', to distinguish it
