How do I get my mail from fetchmail into dovecot?
I have dovecot (with squirrel mail etc.) running without any problems but cannot understand how to get e-mail from a pop server into dovecot. I have fetchmail configured to pick up the mail from the pop3 server but don't understand how to get it from there into my dovecot mbox structure. New to mail servers! Thanks, Michael.

Linux installation
I have just installed R under Linux and had a tricky time finding out that I needed to install r-devel as it was not suggested by yum and does not appear in any of the FAQs. Everything was fine until I tried to install tseries then I was told in the compiler output that R.h was missing. Obviously a search on Google proved fruitless and I was forced to ask on r-help. I am now kicking myself, of

about filtering and dovecot
Hi I would like to set up a local mailserver but I'm getting lost with all the available options. As I have already decided to use dovecot I hope someone here will be able to point me to the right docs/HOWTO's/... Here's my wish-list: 1) download mail from my ISP's POP3-server 2) scan with spamassassin 3) scan with ClamAV 4) filter messages (mailing lists/sender/...) 5) store

Basic questions concerning mail...
Hey all, A few minutes ago, I installed Dovecot, hoping things would get clear by just looking at the relevant config files, but since they don't, I hope someone here could give me a clue... What I want to achieve is really only basic functionality. It's just for personal use, so it shouldn't get too complicated. Up til now, I have been using fetchmail to get my mail off of several

Util for pop3 to dovecot?
What I want to do is pop my email off of a Pop3 server and give it to dovecot for imap serving. Does anyone know of a utility that will allow me to do this? I looked at fetchmail but it seems to want to talk to an SMTP server. Thanks, Brad -- Brad Figg - brad at tpi.com 503.601.0235 ext. 105 TriplePoint, Inc. - http://www.tpi.com

fetchmail can't talk to dovecot
Hello, I have dovecot q1.0-0_22.rc7 up and running on a server: I can read email from squirrelmail just fine. When I try to download email with fetchmail, however, I get the result below. Why is that happening? In dovecot.conf I have: protocols = imap imaps pop3, so why should pop3 or imap fail? Where should I look? (I'll fix the certificates problem after I've managed to get in

Wish-list: X-Delivered-To headers generated by dovecot-deliver
Would it be sensible/"cost effective" to make dovecot-deliver generated X-Delivered-To header(s) based on command line parameter(s)? [after striping such existing headers, before consulting sieve] I need it to: a) *clearly* mark POP/IMAP account fetched by fetchmail [with fetchmail using directly dovecot-deliver in --mda option] b) cleanly implement "shared mailboxes" with

fetchmail on demand
I hoping this is an RTFM ... and somebody can point me at the correct 'FM' :-) I've just spent a while setting my new Debian , allways-on box in what I suspect is a generally useful configuration. I have fetchmail(1) collect mail from many mailboxes via pop3. I store these mails in different mboxs according to rules in procmail(1) I then offer these out to the household via imap

IDLE timing issue - dovecot or fetchmail issue?
Hi guys, Thanks for the great product. We've used dovecot for ages as our internal mail server and it works great! I've recently started using fetchmail 6.3.9 (with IDLE enabled) to download mail from our ISP (Pair networks). The ISP is running Dovecot 1.1.16. I am unable to get the info about the dovecot config at this time. The IDLE support in fetchmail allows us to deliver

how to limit size of dovecot.log
I've done some searching and maybe I'm missing something... I have a remote dovecot and postfix server running on debian 5. I then have a local fetchmail server that retrieves email from the dovecot server via pop3s every 5 minutes. The problem is that the /var/log/dovecot.log file has grown to be over 1.1GiB over a period of less than 1 year. Is there a way to limit the size of the

Cannot execute /usr/bin/fetchmail
Hello everyone, I'm setting up a fetchmail command to run every five minutes so I can get email from another POP3 account. The fetchmail package was installed via yum. I can execute the command manually on the command line. But I'm having trouble when it's run from cron. I have noticed that commands run via cron and execute via /bin/sh, so I tried to run the fetchmail command

Help sought for email problem
My home server is running CentOS-7.1 I'm running postfix and dovecot on it. I collect email from a few sources with fetchmail and move it to ~/Maildir/cur/ with procmail. Or at least, I did do this. For some reason procmail has stopped doing its job, and the email that I collect is finishing in /var/spool/mail/tim/ I can't work out what has caused this, or what the cure is. I haven't

mail without mta
Dear list! I'd like to know if some- one has experience with system running no mta (aka sendmail). I have single comp, not server, not lan. Yes! Sendmail is nice, but it is too big for simple tasks I have for it. My intention is to use apps small as possible. This letter gone from mutt directly to ssmtp, that processed it to my isp.
