ads_sasl_spnego_krb5_bind failed: Program lacks supportfor encryption type [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Alex, I've been a victim of this since Day 1. After a lot of reading and emailing, it comes down to this. libkrb5-3 version 1.8x by default disallows DES encryption. /etc/krb5.conf can be changed to allow weak encryption, but as it relates to Samba, is only effective in letting the system join the domain. For it's internal functioning, winbind uses an autogenerated krb5.conf that

Hi all, I am in the process of migrating my Maildir IMAP server from courier-imap to dovecot. I am now at the point of converting my Maildirs into a format that dovecot understands (as per http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Courier). Problem: ------- #/usr/bin/perl courier-dovecot-migrate.pl --recursive Finding maildirs under . ./courierimapuiddb: OK No such file or directory at

Trying to explain mutt+dovecot(ssl) to myself :(
Hi all, I have recently migrated my mail from courier-imap to dovecot. In doing so, I finally configured mutt to connect to imaps (SSL). In the end I got it all working. I then sat back and thought: "I kinda don't understand the SSL/TLS part even though it works". And I hate setting stuff up and not truely understanding the mechanics of it. So I started to write about it and am

Signed Dynamic DNS Updates with Internal DNS [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
UNCLASSIFIED I just installed SAMBA 4 as the PDC on a new standalone Windows network (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO#Samba_AD_management). Everything appears to be working correctly except for signed dynamic updates. Non-secure updates work fine. A, AAAA and PTR records are added to DNS when a PC joins the domain or I issue ipconfig /registerdns. Using wireshark, I see the

Hi all, According to this bug report: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=566977 This particular error is actually a bug in the samba code. Does anyone know if there are patches that fix this ? Adding "allow_weak_crypto = true" to /etc/krb5.conf does not solve this for me :( Has anyone got a working solution for this ? -Alex IMPORTANT: This email remains the

A quick look at that log shows that it is calling ./configure with --disable-doc, however in CVS the option seems to be --disable-doxygen-docs, try changing that in the ebuild

Prevention of outgoing file transfers?
Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to firewall and/or configure rsync via a web proxy using RSYNC_PROXY to prevent push mode file transfers yet still allow pull mode? I am aware of Matt McCutchen's helpful distinction between the direction of an rsync connection and the direction of file transfer at at http://lists.samba.org/archive/rsync/2006-May/015595.html, but I am after

[PATCH] Memory issue and cast causing failures when adding metadata
Hi, We are using the libFLAC++ library to encode FLAC files with Vorbis comments in them and have had the FLAC 1.1.2 version fail consistently (access violation or segmentation fault) on both Windows and Linux. We tracked this down to the metadata code in the C++ API. The problem is in src/libFLAC++/file_encoder.cpp. There are two problems - firstly, a C-style cast is hiding a bad conversion

UNCLASSIFIED Sorry to be a bloody pest, but I've hit a new problem. I shutdown the 2003 server & seized the roles. I then upgraded to samba 4.7.12. and demoted the 2003 server. Everything seemed to be working OK for several days, so I upgraded to 4.8.12. All seems OK except samba-tool dbcheck gives an error [root at julius samba-4.8.12]# samba-tool dbcheck -v --cross-ncs

"winbind enum = yes" ... oreilly samba books says "turn off" ... but things break. confused :-(
Hi all, In the Oreilly "Using Samba" book pg 292 it is recommended to turn off Winbindd(8) user and group enumeration (very expensive operation). However, when doing this on FreeBSD -CURRENT the groups that users are in are not recognised. When I enable user and group enumeration group permissions work (at least for the first 16 groups) i.e. via chown(1). So my question is: From

setfacl(1) - Can FreeBSD's ACLs contain groups from NT/AD domains ?
Hi all, I have "FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #1: Wed Jul 25" authenticating successfully against active directory via samba's winbindd(8). I need to manage samba shares via FreeBSD ACLs and CIFS ACLs. From my reading of setfacl(1) I should be able to set group permissions using the syntax of DOMAIN\group-name. For example: #setfacl -d -m g:"MYDOMAIN\mygroupname":rwx test

AD + winbindd(8): group permissions being ignored ? WTF ?
Hi all, I am successfully authenticating "FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #1: Wed Jul 25 17:31:15 WST 2007" against AD. Users can log in succesfully with home directories being served via amd(8) and NFS. However, I have discovered a potential "show-stopper" that will force me to abort this mission :( The problem -~-~-~-~-~- In a nutshell: Simple group permissions set with chown(1) are

Winbind problem
Hello, I have a Centos 4.4 Linux server that setup Winbind with windows 2003AD integration, the winbind suddenly can't receive AD accounts, I can use wbinfo -u to show AD user name and group etc, but getent passwd isn't pulling across all of the domain accounts. Here is the winbind log: [2007/10/04 23:31:08, 1] nsswitch/winbindd_user.c:winbindd_fill_pwent(50) error getting user id

DNS Update [SEC=UNOFFICIAL]
UNOFFICIAL Hi, I have setup a SAMBA 4 box as a DC on a 2003 server standalone domain. I intend to take over as the PDC and retire the 2003 server. I am using internal DNS. If I modify/add a DNS A entry on the 2003 server, it is propagated to SAMBA 4 very quickly. But the reverse never happens. Executing samba-dnsupdate --verbose indicates "No DNS updates needed" and shows no errors.
