Re: How to deal with the message: winedevice.exe has encountered
I guess I'm late to the party. I'm getting this error on just about every program I run under Wine since I updated to 1.1.20. Even the Wine Configuration tool makes this error show up first. What is happening here? I had 4 files in my ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/drivers directory. mountmgr.sys MrtRate.sys PxHelp20.sys pxhelper.sys If I move all of them out, the error popup stops

I don't get it: if an app crashes, I'm used to debug it from shell. Users can do as they did till 1.1.20. I think no one has asked for a buggy feature. austin987 wrote: > You can use: > $

'Setup cannot find necessary files' message
Running Wine 1.0.1 in Ubuntu 9.10, trying to install FileMaker Pro 9 from CD. (Install from this CD works fine on Windows machine.) 'Setup cannot find necessary files' message appears when launching setup.exe with Wine. WINEDEBUG=+loaddll on setup.exe gives the output below; looks like all needed .dlls are there. Same problem reported on Ubuntu forums earlier in 2009 by another user:

Winedevice.exe has caused a serious problem and Flash 8
The program winedevice.exe has caused a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience. I'm running Macromedia Flash 8 when this error occurs. I'm also unable to run the "Uninstall Wine Software" program. When I click it, nothing happens. This happens with wine 1.1.22 and 1.1.23. Any ideas? Thx! [Image:

Flash Movie Player Control in VB
Hi all, I just started messing with wine (0.9.54 on Ubuntu 7.04-Feisty) a few weeks ago and there's some educational software I want to be able to run. It was made with VB, and I've managed to get it working fairly well except for an ActiveX control for showing Flash movies (.swf). I think it's unable to load the swf file because the box where the movie should show is blank, and

HH.EXE location
This is related to my post about .chm where vitamin set me on the right path. http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=1026 Since then I reinstalled Ubuntu 8.04 and wine. While perusing the virgin registry I noticed the chm.file ...command key was: C:\windows\system32\hh.exe %1 There is no hh.exe located in that directory. Running an exe from the command line
I bring up the command line (i.e. MS-DOS prompt) by double clicking cmd.exe in Wine's Windows\System32 folder. I key 'path' and I see the path i.e. PATH=C:\windows\system32;C:\windows;C:\windows\system32\wbem;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_26\bin I try to run java.exe (which is in the last folder) and it says 'File not found'.
