I am trying to get esata working. my lspci is below. When I plug in the disk an turn it on - dmesg reports nothing. Is it supposed to report anything like a usb disk does? Is there a module to load? Seems like overnight every motherboard that worked with linux has DROPPED off the face of the earth. hi, on centos 5.x and fedora 6 there are hdX and sdX while from fedora 7 (and probably centos 6.x) there will be only sdX. is it possible with the latest centos kernel to use the same ata_piix driver to handle all disk (ie. both pata and sata) so we've only sdX disk devices like it's the current setup on newer fedora release. we try to disable ide0=noprobe etc. which really disable hdX but

I "wish" to not load the or even install the nouveau driver by default. I want to use the NVIDIA binary driver. Hi all, my motherboard ma78gm is working. I am trying to get working the esata. I plug in my external driver, power cycle the external drive. then turn on my machine. My drive sda is detect as normal. however I dont see anything about any other disk. dmesg didnt show anything. Is there something special needed to activate the esata drive? Jerry

What is happening in centos 5 with network config files??? I have a machine with 2 network cards. ifcfg-eth1 keeps changing to DHCP. All my static setup is gone. Why is it doing this? I am trying to install 6.2 on a machine. I am using PXE as I have done so a number of times. My hard disk is being detected as sdb and not sda. My kickstart config is wanting it at sda. There are no other disks in the unit. It has and SD slot and an esata although BIOS does not appear to have a disable for either of those devices. Is there anyway to "force" the disk to sda ? or find
