ROR dev on Different Ruby versions
Hi, First I would like to ask if someone could give me the direct link to the mailing list this forum mirrors. This is so I can do searches directly and not bother folks with repeat questions. Now my question: I recently installed a ROR app built on Ruby 1.8.2 and moved it to ROR on Ruby 1.8.4. I got a few errors and had to regenerate my app in the later and copy the App files and a few

works with webrick,lighty, not mongrel
Hello, I''ve been working away to setup mongrel as my production server, however I am running into an odd problem and am not sure where to investigate for the answer. When I run using mongrel_rails start most things work fine, but a I get a few inexplicable undefined method errors, for example: undefined method `send_qbxml'' for #<Sync:0x2aaaafa7aa78> The method is

WEBrick development environment not reloading views in Windows
I recently RoR on a machine running Windows 2003 server. When I fire WEBrick using the development environment, it does not reload the app with changed views. I have to shut down WEBrick and restart it to see the changes. Has anyone else had this problem? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on

WEBrick freezes overnight
Each morning when I return to work, I find that my WEBrick server has stopped working. The process is still running, but when I try to connect to it with a web browser, the browser doesn''t get any response back. Usually when this happens I cannot control-c the process to shut it down, and not even "kill" works-- I have to get rid of it with kill -9. I then restart it and it

One layout for entire App ?
Hi, Being true to DRY, I know in Rails it is possible to define a single layout associated to a controller and all associated views, lists etc.. by the layout name taking on the name of the controller but is it possible of a layout to be shared between many controllers ? TIA, Tuka PS: I accidentally posted this in the Test forum.. so I moved it here to get a pertinent reply -- Posted via

custom sql queries beyond CRUD
Hi, I am just starting of in rails. I am trying to understand the features of rails and I have this burning question. (and search is not available now): Apart from relying on the automatic CRUD sql script produced, is there a way I can create my own sql script ex: with many joins between exixting tables (for reporting ). All I need is to declare the custom query and place the result in a

How do you run WEBrick under Rails 2.x?
It appears that Mongrel is now the default development server for Rails as of 2.x. I''m assuming this because I''m unable to run Mongrel (for reasons I don''t totally understand yet - I am running Windows and I keep getting asked for MSVCR80.dll which is a _64 bit_ dll on my Win XP machine) and if I issue ruby script/server, I see the same errors that I get when I try to

how can i set the default protocol of WEBrick to https?
On my server, stunnel is running to accept HTTPS (port 443) connection from clients and redirect them to localhost:80. And on port 80 of my server, WEBrick is running to accept HTTP connection. In such situation, WEBrick generates URLs beginning with ''http://'', not with ''https://''. So one can access to ''https://myserver/'', but when he click on

Fresh install on Debian Etch - Mongrel immediately hangs
Hi, I just did a clean install of Ruby 1.8.5 Rubygems 0.9.0 and the Mongrel and Mongrel_Cluster gems. I used only the Debian Etch package manager, nothing compiled myself. Now, on a testapp when I do a script/server, I get the: ** Ruby version is not up-to-date; loading cgi_multipart_eof_fix warning. But it''s not serving my app. Ruby is immediately on 100% CPU load (and 0.7%

Does send_file act differently with Mongrel than with Webrick?
Mongrel 0.3.13.3 Windows XP Rails 1.1.6 I have a rails app that serves up mp3 files via the send_file command. We create a playlist (M3U) with URLs to the mp3s. These play just fine using Windows Media Player. However using WinAmp we get an error "error syncing to stream" when it tries to request the mp3. After playing around I found that if I am running Rails under Webrick WinAmp

What's new about the Webrick/Mongrel situation ?
Hi, I''ve just finished James Turnbull book "Pulling Strings With Puppet" - which definitely an excellent introduction to Puppet, and I was wondering - as the book is a couple years old, what was the status of the all mongrel/webrick situation ? I guess it''s still recommended to use Mongrel rather than Webrick for puppetmaster, at least for 0.25.5 (which I''m

IE vs Firefox -- http:// matters?
I just noticed something interesting (or not) about getting to my RoR app on the 2 browsers. I''ve tested it running Webrick or Mongrel_rails and get the same behavior. The app is at http://www.mydomain.com:myport#/app/list Specifying that complete URL works fine in both browsers. However in IE if you just specify www.mydomain.com:myport#/app/list I get page not found. In FF the URL

Mongrel says it works, but it doesn''t
Hello, I came to know of mongrel by pure chance, it interrested me cause webrick never worked and instantrails for rails was very slow. the problem with webrick is/was is that it says just this: >ruby script/server c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rexml/entity.rb:21: warning: character class has `-'' without escape c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rexml/entity.rb:21: warning: character

script/server lighttpd on Windows
Has anyone been able to get script/server to successfully use lighttpd on a Windows box? When I try to start the server I get: PROBLEM: Lighttpd is not available on your system (or not in your path) So then I add "C:\lighttpd\sbin" to the path for the console session, and it still fails with the same error. If anyone has some success with this I sure would like to know. Webrick
